As you grow and mature, you will return to your faith. Your parents are counting on God's promise in that.

ummm you already have a LOT of answers so I hope you take this one into consideration... if you were born a Christian. ask you parents why it is that they raised you that way. they obviously believe it to be true. before you pronounce yourself agnostic or athiest, think about it. have you ever felt UNcomfortable about being a christian? or is it just that you didn't feel right about your particular christain church? cause there are A LOT. even though we all say we're christian, many of us believe very different things. I am a christian. I believe in Christ. I believe in God. I believe that my church is the true church. I feel comfortable about it. everything I learn sounds right. I never question it because I simply know it's right. I know where I came from, and where I'm going and what my responsibilities are here. I KNOW all these things.
maybe you just look around in some other christian faiths. see what another church has to offer. I think if completely go astray, you will feel a void in your life.. maybe that's what your feeling now. ??
btw, Christianity is not a man made religion. the bible was written not only by men, but by prophets, and apostles, and disciples. it is almost fully accurate (due to many translations, there may be some errors), it wasn't just written by some guy on the street that made up stories.
so that's my advice.. look around at some other christain faiths... good luck. I hope you find what you need.
p.s. moonlight_is_harmoni.. (i think) had really good advice. so did the person a couple answers up that talked about public school.
p.p.s. don't listen to people that say "quit looking.. the true church is gone" it is not gone It is here! keep looking and you will find the true church. I promise.
p.p.p.s. sorry. I don't mean to sound so "preach"y. I really hate that. but yeah. there ya go.
sorry! one last thing... just pray. really pray and someone will listen and help you out. if it doesn't work the first time just keep trying and have patience. you will get an answer.

A lot of religion, because of the American society, has become Taboo. Who wrote the Bible can be pretty controversial, but it is pretty clear that there is an overarching head, something that made everything "go together" and not contradict. There is no other publication that has ever matched the Bible, and for good reason! About being an Atheist, well thats just wrong, Most people want you to prove that there is a God, which I admit there is no way to prove there is a God, you can always find a loop hole, but Prove there is No God. People are born naturally knowing that there is a God and that they are subject to some overarching power....If you don't believe that listen to the way people talk and act when they are in Danger of losing their life, or things are going really bad, I mean REALLY bad.... Anyway I hope this helps you out! Think about it and please don;t take anything I said personally :D Have a good day/night!

If you want to be a Christian, the first thing you must understand is that the Bible was written by men under the inspiration of the Holy Ghost...Why do you think it is and has been, the best seller of all books? God has his hand on his Holy book..
Christianity is not a religion....it is a relationship with Jesus on a personal basis..I think you have not repented from your sins, and put any effort in getting to know him. You have to draw close to him, if you want to be saved...Saying you are a Christian does not make it so....and being raised in a Christian home, does not make you one...you must do as Acts Chapter 2: 38 tells you...Turn away from sin and get baptized for the remission of your sins,,,then and only then, will you receive the Holy Spirit, which will lead you to the truth...don't blame God if you are confused...Satan is the author of confusion...don't let him lead you down the wrong path.

It's perfectly natural for young people to begin to wonder about the religious stuff they've been taught. A lot of us do some searching to see what's out there. All religions have some nuggets of truth and wisdom, much of the rest is just window-dressing.
I was raised Jewish, and when I was a kid I was encouraged to go to church with my Christian friends and learn about their religion. We were taught that there isn't 'one true religion', that everyone sees things a little different from the next guy, and that we should respect everyone's beliefs and we should gather good ideas where we find them. Many Christians, of course, don't feel that way. 8^)
If you are curious you should talk to people, you should do some reading and thinking on your own, and pull together ideas that sound reasonable to you. You can do religion a la carte! I really think it's the best way! I have learned things from Christians, from Buddhists, Hindus, even Wiccans. They are all interpretations of the same universal truths available to all of us.

You know what my mother was a pastor and I grow up in a Epistolic or Pentecostal church.... whatever, but now that I am older I think the same ways you think. So you know what I did, I knew there had to be a higher power somehow, be it God or whatever else religious beliefs there are (too many to count). Who's right, Who's wrong.....Blah...Blah....Blah... type situation. But I also knew that the bible is a book that was not written to harm anyone, only to help people walk righteous. So the bible was not the problem for me. Really it's good reading; helps people to make good, informative decisions. Then I came to realize and recognize clearly that I really believed in this higher power, because how else did everything become into existences. It's just now I don't claim to be a certain religion, I am Non-Denominational and I practice to be a good person.
Sometimes I think about the Indians and how their rituals and beliefs affected their lives positively. So pure and true to the all creations.
Who's voting here Christians only.....ha ha!
Are all other beliefs going to HELL!!! Oh No!!!!(or do they believe in HELL!).

I'm betting you were raised Christian but went to public school, right? And at public school they teach 180 days a year for twelve years that religion is man-made and teach humanism and evolution. It's no wonder Christian kids who go to public schools end up doubting their faith by the time they get to college. Don't doubt your faith, start doubting the lies and "theories" that the secular liberal humanists would have you believe. I went through this exact scenario, raised Christian, doubted by high school, was agnostic for several years, then God slapped me upside the head and asked, "Who you gonna believe, them, or ME?"
Psalm 14:1 The fool has said in his heart, There is no God! They acted corruptly; they have done abominable works, there is none who does good.
The Bible was written by men who were INSPIRED by the the HOLY SPIRIT
2 Tim 3:16 All Scripture is God-breathed, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,
2 Peter 1:20 knowing this first, that no prophecy of the Scripture came into being of its own private interpretation.
I suggest you talk to your parents and/or pastor about this struggle you are going through. It is very common. God Bless

God made us but also gave us will power to be able to choose and change our future. I think God knows that you are struggling with your faith but He knows that at the end you will realize that that religion is the way to go.
Personally, I understand completely where you're coming from.
I was raised a Catholic but when I got older, I felt that God wasn't real and it was the people in the church who were feeding lies to their believers.
The truth is, no one can say the magic words and *poof* your faith will be restored. It's something you have to do YOURSELF for YOURSELF. You cannot become Christian or Catholic or Atheist because other people are pressuring into that religion. This may not be your case. But maybe something against your religion makes you feel like maybe they are right and God isn't the way to go.
Hopefully, someone will talk to you and make you see God in a whole different light and then you will realize that He is real.
I know it can happen because it happened to me.
Don't give up!!!!!

It's natural to question the faith you were brought up in, so that when you decide what you believe, you will know that it came from your heart rather than someone else's teaching only. I have to adamantly disagree on a few things I know to be untrue that you said: The Bible was written by select men, but inspired by God. In other words, God wrote the bible and used man as His pen and it is totally accurate and true. Also, Christianity is not a religion, but rather a relationship with Jesus Christ. Religion, on the other hand is man's attempt to know or reach God. So, as you choose what and who you believe to be truth, remember that with your choices on this earth comes the consequences for your choices that will be eternal. Once you physically die, there IS NO turning back on those choices or from the place you end up which will be forever and ever. Please email me with any ques. Happy to unconfuse you!! In Christ

i understand that Christianity could be confusing if you allow it to be, but you need to understand that Bible was written by God, he used men as a tool to actually put the words down. Its like a sailboat moved by the wind. the men were the sailboat but god was the wind to move and direct the sailboat. The Bible was written by 64 or more different men at different times, but it blends together beautifully. Some of the old testament authors even told of Jesus birth 400 years before. And they were accurate. These are actual men who lived and wrote down what God told them to write.they were eyewitnesses to what the Bible was written. The Bible has never changed. to say that Christianity is a man made religion is not right. Christianity is god based, it is done or based on fear or works. such as other religions. it is based on believing and accepting what God has said and believing in Jesus Christ as our only way to God. what other religion is not based on fear and works.

I understand where you are coming from being raised in a christian family, you tend to question if what you hear is actually truth or that you believe it because you have heard it so many times, however in my case after all I have seen and been through it will be a travesty for me to lose my faith. Search for truth, ask for understanding. The major reason people always overlook Christianity when searching for the truth is that they think they already know. Realize that God will do everything to keep his word preserved despite every agenda and again search for truth, its not wrong to ask questions.
