I'm a sophomore in college and don't think I'll have that much to spend on Xmas gifts this year.

However, I do have to get something really cool for my godson, who will be 2 years old.

I need ideas of places where I can get quality gift for less.

Thank you for your help!

My son is a picky eater. He isnt big on lunch meats so it's hard to make a good healthy lunch for him. The school lunch menu consist of a variety of meals to choose from, but nothing my child will eat. So I have to send him with his lunch almost everyday. Now I have a hard time finding what kind of sandwiches to put in his lunch...his lunch usually consist of a peanut butter sandwich, orange slices, apple juice, apple sauce or goldfish crackers, pringles ( i know a no no), banana, apple slices. I try to put in a fruit/juice/sandwich and a cracker like item. What do you put in your child(s) lunch bags? I need more variety to add...any other sandwich or a main item to put in his lunch bag?

Our son is now 1 yr old and is starting to get upset when we are holding him and put him down or walk away from him. Up until now, he never used to be like this and would always just crawl/walk away and not even notice. Is this part of what is called separation anxiety?? Strange this is, whenever someone else (like his grandma who is visiting) puts him down, walks away, ect he doesn't get upset at all and goes about his playing or fiddling around. What might be the cause of his new behavior that is specific towards his mother and father? Also, we were both shy when we were young and would like him to be more outgoing. We recently took him out of a home daycare where only 3-4 children were and placed him in a child daycare center w/ 7 children in his class and 2 teachers. They have a curriculum and teach them all kinds of useful skills from eating around a table in little chairs w/ their feet touching the ground. Will this help? He starts the new daycare tomorrow. Thx!!

My son has a 50 min. ride to and from school. This is the only negative to him going (besides my attachment issues).

Does anyone have any ideas for activities a 4 year can do on a bus. He can't eat on the bus. I sent in a laminated car bingo card and a cranyon and an I spy picture book. That will get old soon. And he's learning how to draw on steamy windows, too...

But any ideas?

UGH, one of my worst paranoias ever just came true - my son went downstairs to play (we don't go down there every day, maybe every few days), and there was some old sippy cup down there, I don't know when it was from. I couldn't get to it before he grabbed it and tasted it. EW. I think it was originally apple juice, but when I took the lid off and looked at it, it looked and smelled more like beer; it was like, slightly fizzy. It can't have been more than like 3 days old, but still I'M GROSSED OUT. I have always been totally horrified of this happening.

What can I expect? Is he going to be having diarrhea or what?

My son is going to be twenty-three months old on the fifteenth. Like, I said in the last question I asked he use to talk a little, he would say no, hot, kitty, don't, hi, then all of a sudden he quit talking. How do I get him to show an interest in wanting to talk? I would really like to get him to start talking by his birthday. Could there be something wrong? He's had several ear infections, but it seems like he can still hear fine.

My two year old son is a complete whirlwind. He doesn't really like to sit and play with toys and is a very 'entertain me' child, as opposed to my daughter who entertained herself. What can I do to keep him occupied while I'm making dinner/clearing dinner? I let him 'help' as much as I can (getting things out of the fridge, helping me set the table), but while I'm cooking is the problem. I've tried letting him go outside and play, but he's bored--he has no interest in his toys (even the ones he just got for his birthday). HELP! He's only calm when sleeping, otherwise it's a whirlwind from 5-8pm....

I thought this would be a fun question because I am seeing a lot of negative bashing around here. How do you dress your child(ren)? Where do you buy their clothing?
My son is 2 1/2 and all boy! He plays rough, gets dirty, and stinky!
No upscale brand name clothing here. I personally don't care for the style of it, let alone the price tag! My son is the traditional T-shirt and shorts kinda kid. He wears a lot of athletic style outfits as well-they breathe easier. My son loves anything with sports or transportation.
I usually stick to department store brands like JC Penny, Mervyn's, Kohl's, Target, Old Navy, Sear's, etc. At the outlet stores I like Osh Kosh & Carter's. My son owns 1 Gymboree outfit-it was a gift.
I find these brands do wash and wear quite nicely with minimal shrinking & fading. We have only one child, so I don't have to worry about saving clothing to pass down to another kid.
If I see a nice deal on Craigslist I'll buy it.
How about the rest of you?

I have a friend who I care for very much, she has a 2 year old son and I have a 4 year old son. I care very much for my friend and I just love her boy. Unfourtunately she wants me to constantly praise him, if he gets a new outfit she will ask 20 times how cute he look (even if it is a new t-shirt), if he gets his pictures taken she will show them to me a thousand time and ask me if they arent just the cutest. The truth of the matter is they aren't and I don't go gaga over a new t-shirt. I guess I am having a issue with the fact that she goes on and on about how cute blond haired blue eyed kids are and wants me to agree, but my son is brown headed and has brown eyes and I think big brown eyed babies are adorable, sometimes I feel like she wants me to betray my own son. Basically I am wondering (other than avoiding her) how I can avoid being expected to partake in the 24/7 praisefest of her son.

In May my son will be 7 and daughter 1. Her birthday is 5 days before his. Would it be ok to have a birthday party for them both at the same time? I would like to try to save a little bit of money, and not have to have people plan 2 seperate days for parties. I would get 2 seperate cakes with different themes for the party.

On their actual birthdays I plan on having something for each just with them, plus Mommy and Daddy, maybe the grandparents.

My daughter is 20 months old and a few weeks ago she was showing intrest in potty training, so I started training her. Well she's been using the bathroom some, so I switched to pull-ups and she used them pretty well until a few days ago. She stopped telling me and her soon-to-be-step-grandmother that comes over and her cousin that lives with me when she has to go to the bathroom and dirties the pull-up and doesn't tell any of us, so we have to smell it. And it's a hassle to change her. How can I get her to get back on track? I've tried everything from rewards to praise, what else should I try? She has a Dorah The Explorer (her favorite character) training toilet and now I'm lucky if she even sits on it!

My daughter is now 2 and a half. She is nearly ready to be potty trained but we're gonna hold off about another month until my husband gets back. But she knows when she has a dirty diaper. So every time i even go to check her, she runs away, and its VERY hard to even get near her to change her, she struggles all the way until her diaper is off. So i'm asking all you experienced moms out there for some help. I dont know if its something i'm saying or doing, but i need your help. What exactly would you say and do from checking her diaper all the way to getting it off? Give me everything you'd say and do, and i'll try it all! Thanks so much!

The last 3 days or so, My 2 year old, has been insisting that he go pee in the big boy potty.. Which I am ECSTATIC about, Well, I had put a diaper on him, so he could take his nap, And he peed in it, and them started screaming bloody murder, grabbing his crotch area, saying ouchie, ouchie...So I took his diaper off, and he had peed in it.
My question is, Do you think it's his actual pp that hurts? Or just that he didn't want to have the wet diaper on? His pp isn't red, and doesn't have any unusual bumps or anything, But he was very cautious when he sat down on my lap (after getting his diaper off and being put back into underwear) like maybe it was sore? I wouldn't be concerned, But he's uncircumcised, and I've heard it's caused problems and later they have to be circumcised?

Any help? Please?

I'm going to make him a doctors appt. tomorrow regardless...But, Just wanting some parent to parent advice and/or info beforehand. :)

My 4 yr old woke up today with a fever (around 102), he is shaky, and complaining of a headache. I have given him motrin twice, and it hasnt helped the fever or the headache. However, in the past, he has told me his ear hurt, or throat hurt, and then when i take him in to the dr, he tells the doc he is fine, nothing hurts. So im hesitant to take him in. Should i anyways?
