My daughter is 20 months old and a few weeks ago she was showing intrest in potty training, so I started training her. Well she's been using the bathroom some, so I switched to pull-ups and she used them pretty well until a few days ago. She stopped telling me and her soon-to-be-step-grandmother that comes over and her cousin that lives with me when she has to go to the bathroom and dirties the pull-up and doesn't tell any of us, so we have to smell it. And it's a hassle to change her. How can I get her to get back on track? I've tried everything from rewards to praise, what else should I try? She has a Dorah The Explorer (her favorite character) training toilet and now I'm lucky if she even sits on it!

You need to try putting just underwear on her. The problem is with the pull-ups is they can't feel the wetness. The might say they can but have you felt after they wet, you can't feel a thing. My daughter was potty trained at 20 months. I put panties on her and the first time she went pp and it went down her legs she didn't want that to happen again so she told me ever since.

Maybe she really isn't ready. That is still kind of young. BUT she is showing the interest in it which is good. Try going to a store like walmart or target or something and have her pick out her potty reward (not something really expensive 15-20 dollars) and then go home and make a chart together. Let her pick out some stickers at the store and every time she goes potty like a big girl she gets to put a sticker on her chart. Make the chart about 50-60 stickers long and then once she reaches that goal she'll realize that the potty is a good thing. Also don't get angry and scream or anything over accidents. They are a part of learning and the negativness can damage the learning. And if you don't like idea of the toy as an award, you can always use something like a picnic at the park which you can make the sandwiches and apple slices etc togheter, or maybe a trip to feed the ducks some where or anything liek that that doesn't really cost money but is something a two year old would look forward to...hope that helps! God Bless you and your little one!!

Potty training can be so stressful. My daughter really wanted to be independent when it came to potty training. She did not want to use a floor potty and she did not want to be lifted to the toilet. What worked for my kids is The Potty Stool http://www.thepottystool.com This stool makes any toilet kid- sized. It really helped my daughter to have a safe and sturdy way for her to get to the toilet on her own. I like that this stool cuts potty training in half by eliminating the potty chair. This stool made all the difference for my kids. I hope this helps you.

I think it's common for kids to start and then stop - with lots of things; binkis, bottles, blankies, etc... Don't make such a big deal of it. Put her back in diapers for the time being and when she wants to wear the pull-ups tell her "big girls wear pull-ups". After awhile she'll start wanting to be a big girl plus as she gets older the wetness will be uncomfortable. Everyone gets potty-trained in the end, right?

Get rid of the pull ups!!! Only use them at night! They are just fancy diapers and I found they hindered the potty training process with my kids. I would use big girl panties and start over. Good luck!!

She is still very young...she just may not be ready. I would wait to potty train and try again in a few months.

Pull ups are not effective for potty training... theyre diapers nothing more nothings less. Put her in underwear and prepare to do more laundry for a week or so.

You really have to stay on them about it from the time they get up, to when they go to bed. Ask every hour. And lure them towards the potty every hour.
