The best people to answer your question are the professionals who work with him.

A lot depends on his individual needs.
Don`t feel pressurized about him reaching a certain age.

First of all take a deep breath, I can tell you are running ragged! Now that you have done that, if he is in a special needs school then talk to the staff, I am sure they have run across this before. Now I am not saying this to be mean in any way, I have have a place in my heart for special needs children I think they are the most beautiful pure children in the world but be responsible, you have 4 special needs children all under the age of 5, please do not have anymore children, at some point you have to realize there is something in your genetics or your husbands that is causing this, it is also not fair to your other children or yourself! Please Please Please do not have anymore children. God Bless you and your little ones!

*after thought* I hope you do not think I being unduly cruel, I said what I said before with nothing but love and adoration for you and your situation. I know it is not easy to play the game of life with the hand you have been dealt, but you have to face the facts and there comes a point where you have to say maybe the most responsible thing you can do as a parent is to not have anymore children. I know you are trying for a healthy child but that may not be in the cards for you. Think about adopting later on once the ones you have are older. Again good luck and God bless.

I do not think you should worry about toilet training your little boy just because he has started school.
I used to volunteer in a special needs school, and none of the people working at the school had any problem in changing the childrens nappies.
You should remember that some chidren with severe special needs dont get toilet trained until the age of sixteen.
Try toilet training him when he starts showing you signs that he is uncomfortable in nappies.

All you have to do is whenever he eat or drink but him on the potty about 10 minutes after. Do this everyday and get him in the habit of doing this explain this to your child and even do this at night. When you put a child on the potty at night they will use it. But keep doing this everyday and let them know what they are doing and he will get the concept and start letting you know. Trust me.

Wow, you're very blessed. I wouldn't worry about it so much just yet. Is the school willing to help potty train? If so then getting him on a potty time schedule is possible.

Is this school through ealry intervention?
Do he see like a speach, occupational, or physical therapist? If you put it out there during a therapy session, they are more than willing to help him learn. My son is 2 and a half and doesnt walk, talk, or stand either, so I know where you are coming from. I wish you all the best.

I think going straight to the toilet would be more beneficial for you, you would have to do that from the potty anyway - it would save time if you trained your son to use the toilet.
Are there any aids your son can use to help him stand and sit safely whilst learning to toilet train?

if you think your son is ready now,go ahead & do it!
his other sisters & brothers might accompany him in doin so & you'll get them all potty trained at the same time!
good luck!

Yes I would give it a good try. It depends on how advanced and ready he is, not really his birthday.
