My daughter is now 2 and a half. She is nearly ready to be potty trained but we're gonna hold off about another month until my husband gets back. But she knows when she has a dirty diaper. So every time i even go to check her, she runs away, and its VERY hard to even get near her to change her, she struggles all the way until her diaper is off. So i'm asking all you experienced moms out there for some help. I dont know if its something i'm saying or doing, but i need your help. What exactly would you say and do from checking her diaper all the way to getting it off? Give me everything you'd say and do, and i'll try it all! Thanks so much!

With my daughter I "bait" her if she seems particularly uncooperative. I typically give her something to explore that isn't a regular toy...something that will hold her interest for a few minutes like my car keys, her hair brush, a water bottle, anything that is handy that I wouldn't ordinarily let her play with but since I'm right there to keep close watch I let her explore it. This generally works well because she is so fascinated with whatever she has been given that she just let me take care of the diaper with minimal fuss.

Hello!I totally feel your pain.My daughter is going to be 3 in a month. She is not too interested in potty training yet,so smart at everything else. She used to never sit still for a diaper change either.I will sing a song to her ( usually she wants to sing it to me) also try having her hold a favorite toy, usually my daughters favorite thing to do is hold the powder or cream(as long as she doesnt open it)I will say that she has to lay down for me to change her and if she doesnt like to get a diaper change she needs to be a big girl and start going on the potty.I hope it helps you, good luck in all:)Also make a big deal if she listens that will help her know how happy it makes you!

My youngest daughter is just 1 and she won't lay still for her diaper change. What I do is get her interested in something that she can hold an look at then I lay her back and as quick as I can change her because the newness of the thing will wear off fast.

Pick her up to check her. Swing her around and peek, then carry her to changing table.
Sing a dirty diaper song, or messy butt song. It doesn't always have to be the same song.
Tell her the diaper bugs [ or fairies if she doesn't like bugs ]come to clean her when you change her pants; and sing and tickle her while you do it.
