She doesn't complain about "pain" while playing because her legs are moving. They're not moving when she's laying down. It's called restless leg syndrome and it feels like muscles cramping in the legs when you are trying to sleep but your legs won't relax. Perhaps you can talk to your local pharmacist on what he believes can help with that.
The leg massages that someone else mentioned sound pretty cool though.
Here's a good website for children with RLS
www.rls.org/NetCommunity/Document.Doc?&id=347
I can't get the entire web address on here so maybe you could go on www.rls.org You can look up children with RLS on the website. There's a discussion board on there too.

She may very well have RLS, (like me too) but there's nothing I know of they can do for it. Also kids that age are growing at a fantastic rate so some muscle cramps are to be expected, Make sure they're getting some kind of potasium, magnesiom, and calcium every day, (Bananas and Milk R' your best bets I'd also recommend a children's chewable) and don't be scared to uses childrens ibuprofen once in a while for those times when she's at her worst.

My daughter complained about this a lot when she was younger. The pediatrician took a look at her feet and suggested we try orthodic insoles for her (we get them at a good shoe store). They solved the problem right away. As long as she wears a good supportive shoe with a good arch support in it she doesn't complain.
During the summer when she prefers to run around in flip flops which have NO support she's often up at night complaining that her legs and feet hurt.
While it's probably a ploy to get attention from mom or dad, it's still worth mentioning to your ped the next time you're in!

She is probably going through a growth spurt and that causes some awful pain. A shot of Tylenol before bed, a warm bath, and massage worked really well for us. Its almost like having restless leg syndrome, and can drive you nuts. I suffered them a lot as child, and take great care when my 4 year old tells me his legs hurt.

I used to get terrible growing pains when I was little, my mom would massage my legs some night. I would give her some Mortin about an hour or so before bedtime so that it has time to start working, if that doesn't help any then she's probably just playing with you.

My daughter does the same thing she is 2 1/2 years old. She complains from her back to her feet.. I think she is just sleepy, and she hear her dad complain, and I rub his back or something, so she once the same treatment, and I give it to her..lol.. It's too funny because nothing is really the matter. But your daughter is going to know how to get you out of the bed to play if u keep doing it.

Children after open heart surgery play without complaining about pain. That doesn't mean they don't feel any. I personally would get it checked out. Even a 3 year old can develop arthritis.

I used to get leg aches as a kid, really bad ones.
I dont know what his deal is. If he plays and then goes to bed without issues its probably not real pain.
However, giving him some tylenol and making him stay in bed couldnt hurt.
