My 20 month old LOVES her bottle. She has all of her drinks in it and is always having bottles. I think since she's almost 2 she should get off the bottle and atleast try sippi-cups. I've tried giving her sippi cups and she usually drinks them fine BUT her grandmother will give her botttles even when I tell her she's going for the sippi-cups. My mom says that's all crazy talk, that she's only 1 1/2 she can still drink bottles. But until my mother started giving her the bottles, she loved her sippi cups. Now she refuses them. How can I get her back in the sippi-cup routine?

My niece turned two in June and she has maybe a ten word vocabulary. She hears ok and understands two-step commands, such as "throw this away and bring me this." She points and grunts when she wants something, and her mom taught her some sign language in her first year because mom's brother has hearing problems and she wanted her to be bilingual. I keep telling my husband that Einstein didn't talk until he was three. Is she at risk for autism? Is she normal?

I have a 4 yr old and a 1 yr old. Right now I have a double stroller the side by side type but I've come to not really like, I find it hard to shop getting in between the isles sometimes. I don't want a jogging stroller but one for just trips like the mall or zoo that kind of thing.

Growing up, my grandparents lived in a small town that hosts a HUGE annual arts and crafts fair. I have NEVER missed the fair, even when I was 8 months pregnant with my son and had preeclampsia!

My daughter was born last week, and everything is going well. She's a quiet, "normal" baby (we had a preemie with our first--a preemie with colic), and my c-section has healed amazingly well. I've been given a go-ahead from my doctor to attend the fair if we so desire. The fair is 3 hours away, and we would stay with my parents while we would be there.

The main problem is that our son, who is 2, is still in the process of adjusting to life with our daughter.

On one hand, going to spend two nights with his grandparents may be what he needs to get the attention he's being deprived of currently.

On the other hand, it may make the transition even more difficult.

My husband and I are stuck, and although I REALLY want to go, we want what's best for our son.

Any insight?

How do I manage shopping when I have to grocery shop with them both at the same time. My hubby is going away on work for 4 months and I don't have anyone to help me with them while I do these kinds of errands. * My newborn is in her carrier and my 2 1/2 year old will NOT walk along side of me. What other options do I have?

I have a 3yo girl who just won't play or mix with other kids. in playgroup, preschool, parties or at the park, she just stays with either my wife or I and won't associate with other kids. Yes, an only child, but she does enjoy playing, going on the rides at the park etc, but only alone. She is the same with adults, shies away from anyone who goes near her. Anyone else experienced this and what can we do to make her feel more at ease with others? She has almost daily exposure with other kids, so its not that she doesn't see other children often.
thanks
mark

My 20 month old just got a Dorah the Explorer toddler bed and when we picked it out she LOVED it. That night she slept very well, which was a suprise to me, because I expected her to miss her crib, which was passed down to her 2 month old sis.

Well for the past few nights she's been either getting out of bed or screaming her head off. I tried putting gaurd rails on her bed so she couldn't climb out, but for some, odd reason she got out! I need advice. I've tried to keep on putting her in bed and do it whenever she gets out until she is tired, but it's hard. Expecially when my 2 month old needs a chaning. She'll get out of bed and then run to me and try to get in her sister's crib! Yesterday I came home and my soon-to-be-MIL was watching my kids and she was cradling my sleeping 2 month old. I went upstairs to find my daughter in the crib! I tried to explain to her she's not a baby she's a big girl and she said "Me no wanna be big-girl. Me wanna be baby! WAHH! WAHH!" HELP PLEASE!

I'd like someone with this philosophy, to explain how this is good for a child?

This particular persons sons, think I'm insane because I expect them to keep gum in their mouths and not rub it into my furniture, or because I make them wash their hands at dinner time.

They constantly think I'm mean and crazy- doesn't she see that teachers, etc. are going to expect "normal" behavior too? And that these kids are suffering because they don't know what "normal" is?

I have daycare kids who are not disciplined at home- there is no consistancy- and then they have to come to my house and follow a whole other set of rules. I think it's torture for these small kids to have to understand 2 sets of rules. (At home we can hit, at Julie's we can't. At home I can go in the fridge and spill a gallon of milk, at Julie's we can't. At home I can run out of the house anytime, at Julie's I can't. ETC ETC ETC)

I see so many kids come through my daycare with the most horrible eating habits at home- pop tarts and chocolate milk for breakfast, kool-aid instead of juice, fast food 4-6 times a week....on top of that, 90% of parents I meet do not discipline their kids at all.

I had a little boy one time (from age 2-5) who's teachers were trying to label him with ADHD because of his hyper activity and naughty behavior.

What they didn't know is that the child wasn't disciplined at home(this causes great confusion in children, when their 'at home' behavior is suddenly not ok in public)

and it was compounded by letting him eat whatever he wanted. This kids diet was appauling, yet it never came up when the school was investigating and testing him. When it did come up, the parents were not truthful.

I've used Huggies for quite some time. We are using them now only for naptime and bedtime, but they are different than the other sizes. Instead of having a full front on the waist, there are two side tabs? Diaper fits but will not stay up during sleep, as the top sides won't stay put! Anyone else have similar problem? I've liked Huggies up till now...

He only wets his pants when he is sleeping, otherwise he has been completely potty trained since he was 22 months old. Please help.

My 18 month old daughter is difficult with her food and eats a lot of crappy stuff because when she refuses what I make her I worry that she won't eat at all and then give her something like a bread roll which is hardly nutritious! What am I supposed to be feeding her? I normally do cereal in the morning, yogurt for lunch and spaghetti or something for dinner but she eats a lot of biscuits and snack foods during the day which I don't think are healthy. What does your toddler eat during the course of a day?

NOTHING!!! And she won't point at her bottle when she wants it.. Just screams. Is this normal?? Shouldn't she say something????

Then 5 mins later he will do a wee or poo in his undies. Does anyone have some suggestions as to what we could try?
