So yeah I want to start babysitting but I don't know anyone with kids young enough to be babysat really. I do know though that the peole across the road have a daughter who is about 1 and a bit. I wouldn't trust myself on my own with a child that small but I think the father works like away at the mines or something that takes him away for long periods of time. Should I offer to babysit while the mother is still home to give her a bit of a break? Then maybe once I get to know the baby I can start babysitting while she's out. Afterall my parents would be literally like 20 metres away. So since I don't know this family too well how do I approach them to ask? I would just really like to babysit as I love kids. By the way I am 14.

Thanks

My daughter turned 3 years old in July... I haven't put her in a pre-school yet... is that bad? I have put her in day care where the curriculum is similar to school but I just wanted to know what age I should start her in pre-school or kindergarten.... any ideas?

My daughter today who is almost 4 years old has dark green color poop similar to spinich. I am just curious since she says she doesn't feel well and her tummy hurts. She doesn't eat a lot of veggies but takes vitamin supplements. She did eat some cheese and spinich ravilos a couple of days ago. Could that be causing the color of poop she's having?

I have a co-worker who has a two year old as well. And he is so much smarter than my 2 year old and he is only 2 weeks older. My two year old girl doesnt want to count or do her ABCs and my coworkers 2 year old knows it all!! My daughter used to be able to count to 10 but she will not do it anymore. Also she doesnt know any colors and the other 2 year old knows it all. I have seen him and he is so smart. I am so jealous. Is my two year old okay?

Okay I know that sounds really bad but listen....

I am 18 and I have legal custody of my sisters two kids. And I'm having all sorts of problems!!!

Okay the four year old she came home from camp the other day asking about suicide. And I refused to answer, because that's not a decent topic for a 4 year old! But guess, what she knew about it all ready!!!! So here I am trying to convince a four year old that, it's a very bad thing, and God doesn't approve. Then I thought that was the end of that!!!

But today when we didnt have any chicken nuggets, and had to eat chicken fingers instead, she flipped, and threw a hissy fit! Announcing outside in the backyard, where the neighbors could hear....that if I didn't go to the store and buy some she'll commit suicide!!!!

I know I shouldn't take this seriously, but what if I'm wrong and I should pay attention???

Mind you, she has a history of abusing the dogs! Just read my old questions for more info.

My 16 month old has a runny nose and nothing he takes will clear it up. IT starts out clear and then gets yellow/green. I have literally tried everything I can think of. Antibiotics, several different antihistamines. Any suggestions?

A really nice gift. He has every car and truck you can think of. He has a bike, a power wheels, a scooter, a work bench (although he's already outgrowing it) a basketball goal, a ball pit/jump-o-lene, a train table, sandbox, swing set, see-saw....
So any ideas?

My 3-yo son has learned how to put his own shoes on (no tying yet, just putting them on his feet) but doesn't always get them on the correct foot. I'm looking for suggestions for how to teach him which shoe goes on which foot. I'm drawing blanks. What has worked for you?

My son is 28 months and has no issue going poo poo on the potty. He would tell me too when he needed to pee pee. This was only for a few days, then company showed up unexpectedly one night with kids, and since then he will never tell me when he has to pee. He will hold it in for as long as he can then go. He use to tell me wet when he did, but now he even stopped that. I don't know if my telling him we don't pee pee in your underwear scared him. What do I say? I give lots of praise, treats, and have tried fruit loops, naming other people who do it, big boy, going naked, going in just cloth training pants, using toilet, using potty chair, a wetting doll. He still has no issues telling me he has to poop and running to the toilet. But he now just holds his pee for 3 to 4 hours then tries to hide when he does pee. I really do not think that I've made peeing sound bad. But I just can't figure out what happened, and why he won't even try now. Please help me. I don't want to give up.

My son will be 3 on October 11th. He is 42+ inches tall (to my waist) and weighs in at about 50 or so pounds. He's growing fast and furious (right now he's chunking up, so he'll be growing in the height department really soon), and I have no idea if his height to weight ratio is normal for his age. I know he's big for a 2 year old, but he's not unhealthy. Hell, he can be healthier then most toddlers. He loves playing and exercising and eats healthy meals. Any ideas on who and what I could ask about his height and weight? (He's bigger than 5 and 6 year olds).

Hi. My son goes to preschool and most of his teachers are friendly and civil, except one. His afternoon teacher is not friendly and I was glad she moved to another school because I was tired of her mannerism, but she came back to his school and works the afternoon shift. Anyway, this teacher I don't like, doesn't say hi to me (when I say hi to her) or answer my question "Hi. how are you?" she is not warm and open to me, even if I try to smile at her and ask questions about my son's day, she doesn't . So I had to stop asking her questions. But I feel that she is selective and open to other people. My son, on the other hand, likes her and feels comfortable around her. She acts friendly and outgoing to my son, but not to me. I know I'm suppose to be happy that my boy's happy with her but she makes me mad and doesn't make me feel good because she can't even respond to me saying "Bye. have a good day" or "Thank you" or what have you to her. I think it's rude and unprofessional. Help!

My two favorites from my son, now 3 & 1/2...

1) We had only lived in Louisiana for a few years. Our house is in a wooded area. My son was about a yr and a half. He was looking outside through the screen door. He yelled with excitement, "Mommy, it's an ALLIGATOR!!" I came running in a panic only to see a little green lizard attached to our screen door! LOL

2) It was bedtime in our house, but my son, 2 & 1/2 by this time, was stalling. My husband told him it was time to pick up his toys. He very matter of factly said, "Daddy...I have a better idea. Why don't YOU pick up my toys, and Mommy can read to me." He was so serious that neither one of us could help but to laugh!

Love to hear your stories too!

There's a penguin, moose, and hippo, so what on earth is Uniqua? She has pink dots, antenna, and a twirly tail. She has no snout so she can't be a pig, and they don't have antenna??? She's not a bug, she only has two legs. It's driving me crazy!!

My 4 yr old keeps hitting the cat and pulling its tail. Would a physical punishment (kind of a, "do you like it?") be best, or would a timeout/take toys away punishment be best? I have already talked to him about it, but i cant decide on whats the best punishment. Thanks

He's such a good boy, our little angel during the day, so obedient, so playful & happy, and he'll even nap twice during the day for 30 min - 2 hrs. in his crib but at night he's a little tyrant, and makes my nights hell. All the advice given in my prior question led to him crying so hard he pukes. It pains me to hear him cry, I monitor him from another room with a tv cam. I feel like a walking zombie in the morning if I stay up trying to get him to sleep in his own crib! I have to work the next day, it's too much for me! It's the same thing every night. I nurse him to sleep in my rocker, I hum lullabies, put him down in his crib with his bunny, & then naps 2 hours later he's screaming his head off, gagging, & then puking! Which leads to having to bathe him, change him, nurse him, & rock him to sleep all over again! After 2 - 3 days I cave in & let him co-sleep in the middle of our California-King bed. I've had a month of trying off & on! How can I win this battle?

The first year of his life, he would sleep the whole night in his crib, of course. He couldn't get out, right? Well, we found out he has stage 2 kidney disease so now he gets babied, a lot. Sleeps in our bed, whatever he wants....I don't mind any of it, except the bed part. How do I get him to WANT to sleep in his own bed? I have bought his favorite cartoon sheets, an awesome car bed, night lights, stuffed animals....HELP!?!?!

I have a 2yr old girl and lately she is so finiky and whiney... I dont know if it's her age or if it's the way girls are.. (I had a boy first, now 6yrs old). She is very independent and wants to choose her clothes, shoes, what to eat, etc. and she is slowly trying to get control of everything...it's very frustrating trying to be the parent here. I have enrolled her to begin preschool in a couple of weeks and Im hoping that maybe she will get some balance thru that and being around kids her age. If things aren't to her liking, she sometimes has fits. Its tough right now trying to raise her and trying to remain the "parent": Any suggestions?
