Well, I don't mean it literally, but how many here agree with a few good old fashioned spanks to discipline a child?

My friend needs to put her 2 1/2 yr old in daycare for 1 week next week, because her regular sitter is going out of town. She needs somewhere nice, but not rediculously expensive, in Tallahassee, Fl. Thanks!

We were at the swimming pool club and a 9 yr old boy was screaming in my son's face to move out of his way and my son just punched him right in the face. The kid took a few steps back and seemed like he was hurt but he didn't cry or anything. And then after that moment he was totally kissing my son's butt and not trying to bully him anymore. I went over and scolded my son mildly but I was so happy and proud of him I wished I could have given him a pat on the back and said good job son!

How would you have reacted? Would you have punished your son, would you have done the same as me and said a few words to him? Would you have been as proud as me?

My son has been day trained for almost a year (he just turned 3). We still have to put a Pull-Up on him for overnight though. We have put him to bed in underwear and it is just night after night of getting up to change his clothes and sheets. He is a heavy sleeper. Any suggestions?

My daughter is 3 (as of January), and she does not see/hear profanity ever, it is not allowed. She wants to kiss me, and other people and turn her head from side to side like the way you would kiss passionately. She also will put things in between her legs and say "Look Im having a baby". Does anyone else have kids who do or have done this? She is my oldest so I don't know whats normal. My mom says she thinks it is, but I want other opinions.

My 3 yr old was upset and crying last night b/c she was very tired but refused to go to bed (fighting sleep). She got back the hallway and threw up b/c she was upset. This isnt the first time. One other time she was misbehaving and I sent her to bed early that night. She got herself all worked up and threw up.

I dont know how to prevent her from getting to that point. What do I do.

I am watching a friends son to today and have been once a week for a couple of months now. At first he was a well behaved and polite. I guess the more time he is with me the more comfortable he is so his behavior is changing. Anyway I have a two year boy and this other child is almost 4. Well several times now I have heard my two year old crying the real I am hurt cry. I run to the playroom to find my two year old on the floor holding his arm. I asked the other child what happened and he plainly told me he pulled my son out of the chair because it was his seat and when my son started crying the other boy put his hands over my sons mouth to keep me from hearing him cry. Several incidents like this make me not want to let mine out of my sight. I aloso have 8 month old that requires lots of attention.
Time out does not seem to work. If he was mine a couple swats on the butt would do the trick.
Any suggestions as he is not my child so I know I can not spank him.

Have you seen these Pampers size 7 they have now.
They don't look like they are made for babies.
Unless it's a very big baby.
My daughter was small and was in a size 3 when she potty trainned.
I just wondered if anyone actually had a baby big enough to need them?

I'm an educated woman, so why can't I get this right? I have a 17-month old as well. He's always knocking into him, or trying to wrestle with him. We go to a playarea and before I know it, he's trying to wrestle the kids there! We don't wrestle with him all the much anymore b/c it seems to fire him up and make the aggressive behavior worse.

Example-went to visit hubby at work. His coworker started kind of tossing him in the air and playing with him. My son started hitting and scratching him. He gets to this point of excitement, and then it's like he has no control over his behavior.

Another example-he was playing with these bags in my sister's pantry. He was all excited and screaming and laughing. It was time to go, I gave him some warnings that he had to pick up the bags and he totally ignored me. It was like I wasn't even there! I got some frustrated I ended up having to drag him out of the house with him throwing a huge fit. I feel awful, but I swatted him on his bottom.

In the past three days, since my four-year-old changed classes in his daycare twice in two weeks, he's been getting in trouble for not minding the teacher and just generally being difficult. So they moved him back to the three-year-old room when the afternoon teacher was having trouble with him. When I called to complain about him being sent BACK to the younger class, the woman I spoke to in the office (not the teacher, she had already left) suggested "maybe it's his ADHD....."

He's never been diagnosed with ADHD, and he's never had discipline problems other than the occasional time-out, in any of his classes, or at home. And he minds the morning teacher.

I think the problem stems from him not handling change well (never has) and being shuffled from class to class in a very short time, and every move makes it worse.

Even if he's never shown signs of it before, and it's been only three days, is it something that can be brought on by circumstances, or just naturally?

She has been sleeping fine by herself in her room for some time. However, for the past week she cries and says she hears noises. It does not go by more than 5 min. when she is my room, crying. I tried reading stories, staying in her room for some time, even sleeping in there untill she falls asleep. What else can I do.

Oh, my goodness!!! I just noticed tonight when I was giving her a bath. I went through her hair and foung 2 live bugs, and she's got 50+ eggs, or whatever those things are that stick to the strand of hair.
I've never had to deal with something like this before.
What's EVERYTHING I should do to get rid of these bugs, concerning toys, carpet, blankets, matresses...anything that may be infected?
I'm going to the store tomorrow to buy the shampoo, or anything I need to get rid of this.
Is she too young to use this shampoo on? Any other products I should buy?
Anyone with firsthand experience, what did you do to get rid of them?
Any home remedies I could try until I can get to the store tomorrow?
Thanks a lot for all your help!

I have a 2 1/2 year old and a 7 week old. I am not at all worried about the 7 week old, but the 2 year old is extremely attached to family members here and when we move, I'm afraid that it will be traumatic to him. We also will be staying with some family in our new city until we find an apartment, then moving again. All of this moving must be hard on him. How do I make it easier?
