My boyfriend freaks out when our 2 year old son dresses in girls clothes and puts on makeup with his sisters. He gets angry and wants to punish him. He says that he will grow to be a fag and allowing him to freely play this way only teaches him to be feminine. I disagree and feel that many young children do this and it shouldn't be an issue.
It breaks my heart that my boyfriend would think this way. What would someone who has experience in early childhood development say to this?

I work at a Daycare, I volunteered there for 4 years before I got hired (when I had my 18th bday not long ago). I sometimes see parents yell at their kids, and I could never do it. How do they? I mean, I may be in a room alone with 20 screaming kids (no, they don't follow max. capacity rules there), but I somehow manage to calmly but firmly set the rules and settle the kids down. They all obey me pretty well. But screaming? I never could. Spanking, yelling, any of that stuff is just horrible to me. I'm so calm around the kids, and I love each and every one of them, and screaming just seems wrong.

Does anybody agree with me?

By the way, I'm due in December with a boy. VERY EXCITED!

About 2 weeks ago my son came down with a virus... vomiting/fever (Dr just said bed rest)... while he was sick he was pooing in his pants and I thought it was just because he was sick and had a bit of diarhea. Well he got over it and everything was fine he was going to the toilet like normal... until this week!!
Everyday this week he's been pooing in his pants, he went to daycare tue, wed, thur and no accidents... but as soon as we were home he would poo in his pants... I ask him why he didn't go to the toilet and he just says "so I did it"... I say where do you go poo... he says "the toilet"... WHY is he not going though? he'll go and do a pee just fine though...
He has had a slight fever the last 2 days and a bit of a cough, could he still have a virus? today I've been taking to the toilet every hour (like training again) and nothing... I said i'm having a shower... came out 5 min and he had pooed in his pants... i'm about to bloody snap as I just don't know what else to do?? HELP!!

We live on an island where most of our home's water supply comes from recovered rainwater. Our little girl - who is two and half, learning to use the potty, and loves playing with water - would wash her hands 50 times a day if we'd let her! And she wants to run the water forever! Is there any way to get the point across to her, or is she just not developmentally ready at this age, to use water sparingly?

I'm looking for some baby fencing (or something like that) for use in the corner of my living room to section off a play area for my toddler (about 8' x 8'). I've tried to find such to no avail (just baby gates and outdoor play yards, which seem pretty small.) Any ideas on how I can do this, or where can I find such? Thanks! :)

My daughter (21 months) doesn't really enjoy having her teeth cleaned. She likes to play with my electric toothbrush and puts it in her mouth. I was thinking of getting one for her but they say for 3 years and above. Is this becasue of small parts (batteries) or would it damage her teeth?

When we realized that about 99% of my husband's salary was going to pay daycare, he quit his job and became a full-time stay-at-home dad. Our sons are 3 and 2. The problem is, I think they need interraction with other kids (other than each other and with their father). We don't really want to put them in daycare, because that would defeat the whole purpose of my husband staying home to raise them, plus, daycare is ridiculously expensive, and we live on a very strict budget and don't have the extra money for even part time. Any suggestions? How would I go about finding a play group or something similar?

My husband and I want to take our two sets of twins to Disney World next summer. Our older twins will be almost three and our youngest set will be about 7 months. Do you think that is a good idea? Our older set went last year for Christmas. I am pregnant this year with the second set of twins and we are only going on a short vacation. Do you think wee should wait until our second set is older?

I need a time out on the naughty mat with my son sometimes. Anyone feel my pain? Any advice how to get through this tough stage? Thanks in advance.

My daughter is 3 mo. and only 10.5 pnds. She is gaining slowly but surely and satified in between meals, the doctor says she is fine, but in the 10th percentile. I am on a low carb diet but still drink plenty and get plenty of calories. My friends twins are 5 mo. and weigh 17.5 pnds. each. She eats ice cream and drinks milk, do you think that what you eat can effect the richness of my milk. I do eat healthy, but would love to fatten her up a little.
