Ok im going out of state on a 24 hour drive with my 2 year old son and my parents. We are going to the family reunion and my hubby cant go :( but any way we are leaving on Wednesday I want to know if anyone has any suggestions of things to take or do on the trip. Anything you wish you had or couldn’t have lived without. We will be staying with family. My son has sleeping trouble even at home. We will stop once overnight each way. I have a special toy for the trip and a car DVD player im going to take his blanket and teddy bear he sleeps with at home and his story books.

We all know how crazy it can be to be a mom!

I wish I had a Mantra... something to say to myself when I'm having a hard time.

For instance.... "it's just a phase, its just a phase, its just a phase...."

I also have the serenity prayer hanging on my wall.... im not religious but it helps me remember to calm down when i get frustrated.

how do YOU keep YOUR cool in a chaotic, child-filled environment?

I just posted a Q about a 2 day "trial" my 3 year old and I had where she was trying to see what she could get away with... LOL.. (shaking my head - stubborn one she is..) And I'm all about consistancy and not giving in.. (wonder where she got that stubborn streak?)

So why do you think kids, especially toddlers, are consumed with pushing to see how far they can "stretch" the rules?

I just asked her to clean up a mess she made by the table (she threw some melon during breakfast). She said no mommy, you do it. I again asked her to do it. She just looked at me and refused to do it. I put her in time out for awhile, and then got her out and told her again to pick it up. She refused. So now she's back in time out. I don't know what to do! SHe needs to learn to clean up her messes when I ask her to. I don't think this time out is even working.... Any ideas?

My second cousin has autism but its only moderate. He is 4 and been trying to potty train now for about a year. He seems to really undrstand going in the potty and tries so hard to do it every time. Do you think he will ever get it or will his autism slow him? He is frustrated because he knows he can do it I think he forgets to go.

my son is 13 months old and has being going number 2 or should i say pooping alot lately it seems everytime I change his diaper he has pooped..
I would say he poops about 4 to 5 times a day. he has been doing this for 3 days now. when he does it is more runny and a little seedy. and its light brown in color.
Is something wrong with him should i be concerned?
He plays fine and does everything else like there is nothing wrong

He is 10 yrs old, and since he acts like this all the time, I am not going to take him anywhere around other people, because he cannot behave. I have never seen a child cry as much as he does. If I do not get more help than 3 hours a week, then I am going to go insane, or get so sick from stress, that it is going to kill me. I am a single mom of him and a 16 yr old son. This behavior is getting on me and my other son's last nerve. I need help to get it under control. We live in town in an apt, with all the noise he makes, we need to move into the country, but I cannot even afford to pay my bills now, so how can I move. I need to move him in the country, so he does not disturb everyone. Does anyone have a solution or can help me buy a house in the country. I have applied for Extreme Makeover Home Edition 3 times, but I haven't got a response from them, I also have tried Habitat for Humanity, but I have more debt then income, so I do not qualify. I need a house pymt that I can afford.

I have a 2 year old son and a 5 year old step son. Its kinda strange because i want the 5 year old to call me by my first name and my son to call me dad. My 5 year old has a very involved father and i don't want to break that up they have a great realtionship. But my son will call me Tom because he hears his brother call me that. We remind him every time he calls me Tom to call me dad but the next time he talks to me its Tom.

I know, everyone thinks their child is a genius. I'm not sure where my son should be developmentally. He is counting to ten (not skipping any numbers and doing so consistently). He also knows about 10 colors. So, is this normal, or ahead?

Our 3 year old son does not seem at all interested in learning new things, for example, we have been trying to get him to learn to ride a bicycle (with training wheels), learning to play baseball (at least to hit the ball with bat), swimming. He has no desire. For the swimming, my parents have a pool, I try to encourage him to wear the arm floaties or his life jacket, he won't wear either. Tonight we were at a community pool, he was the only person in the baby pool. He will try to ride his bike for about 2 minutes if that and says "I'm done" and that is the end of that. I am disappointed when I see children younger then him or children his same age doing things that he can't or won't do. I understand all children learn at different stages and rates. I am concerned this might turn out to be something more. Is this something to be worried about, could this just be phase he is going through? Any suggestions on getting him more interested in trying new things?

That your child forgot to put away?
This happens to me every once in awhile.
I'll step on a stray barbie, lego or some other toy.
And it just happens to be the pointy part :P
Has this ever happened to you?
What do you do when/if it does?

My child has club foot and we have this special metal brace with shoes attached for my child and I was wondering if there was some place online where parents trade shoes or sell them for lesser money than retail....my child has outgrown his and I'd gladly trade/sell his old shoes for ones that are his size now....if there is a site that does offers this beacuse the shoes cost over 100 dollars and i know he will keep outgrowing them and I'll keep having to get newer ones later on.

So does anyone know of a site or anything similar that might help.....thanks in advance
