my son is like that sometimes we tried spanking him and putting him in time out the best thing that works for me is standing him in a corner for a little bit if he screams I tell him until he can stop screaming he'll stand there he is 4 and I understand that a one year old is different but try putting a chair in the corner somewhere and sit him there if he ignores you say fine go the the corner and see how long he ignores you then I don't know what the difference was with the corner and time out on the couch but my son thought that was the worst thing ever and he is doing a whole lot better he rarely has to stand in the corner now hope this helps

CHECK HIS HEARING!!! That might be the cause of the ignorance...if not, then -

Who is teaching him these things? Children of any age have a special type of learning radar; you may not believe it, but they are learning behaviors right from the day they are born. And they are learning the most from the parents, or whoever spends the most time with them.

YOU SHOULD NOT BE SPANKING YOUR CHILD - ESPECIALLY AN INFANT!!! Who taught you that?

Take a parenting class - it is in your best interest and will teach you ways to DISCIPLINE children.

Most toddlers will ignore their parents just because we are no where near as facinating as whatever michief they are creating. Best thing to do instead of yelling or getting physical with it is to get in between him and whatever has his attention. Once you have his eyes on you tell him whatever it is you have to say. If he then chooses to not respond when you know he has aknowledged you then take said item away.

u should just ignore him and when hes being bad and wants to play w/ u, just ignor him. he may have a fit, but just pretend hes not there and in like 2 min. hes calmed down and is behaving. hopefully...
