My son is 16 almost 17 months and after 4 nights without sleep we decided to assemble his Toddler bed and try it out.
It took almost 2 hrs. to get him to sleep last night. we tried everything: closing the door (and letting him cry), turning on a DVD, allowing him to walk out of the room and we "calmly" return him...finally I decided to lay in the floor. He finally fell asleep after about 20 minutes.
He then awake again at 3:00 a.m. (which is what he was doing while in the crib) and wouldn't go back to sleep (at this point I was sleeping in my room) again I tried all the above methods, and finally at 5:00 a.m. I caved and put him in bed with us.
I haven't gotten more than 4 hrs. of sleep in 5 days!!!
BTW he eats before bed, and has suficient naps, and fresh diaper before bed every night

There has GOT to be an easier way to do this!!!!
ANY SUGGESTIONS!!!!????
(I'm at my wit's end here)

Why do people have issues with guys taking their little girls to the bathroom, I mean I am not going to send my 4 year old into the bathroom on her own when I don't know who is in those public bathrooms, and I don't care if they are all girls I don't know them they could do anything to her in there while I am standing outside like a banana.

And no one ever says anything when a girl take her 4 year old son into the bathroom.

They have a parent and child room at my local store which I use when either I need to go or my kids need to go and I take them in and the other day this woman had the nerve to demand to know what I was doing in there with little girls and when I told her I took my daughter to the bathroom she went you had no right where is the mom does she know about this.

By god I was so angry I had to walk away before I hit her or something.

How dare anyone tell me I don't have the right to care about my own kids.

So what is the problem because i don't get it?

My 3 1/2 year old is a very strong willed child and will not quit biting his nails...even with the bitter nail polish. He bites them so low there is hardly any nail left. I don't know what to do. He tells me he wants to stop to make me happy, but he doesn't...any ideas?

Tomorrow morning is my 3 yr old daughter's first trip to the dentist. We have been talking about it for a couple weeks (not much but a little here and there.) We have read some books about teeth (arthur at the dentist, bearenstein bears dentist) and we also have watched a few tv shows (franklin at the dentist and one other one). My main concern is that I just had my wisdom teeth pulled on Thursday and ended up with dry sockets. She has seen me miserable because of the "owies in mommy's mouth." She seems a little nervous. I have explained that they are going to count and brush her teeth and that she won't get owies like mommy. Any suggestions for getting her prepared for it?

I'm NOT saying to beat a child. A spat on the butt, not even hard enough to kill a mosquito.

If you have a 5 or 6-year old child, what time will you be getting them to bed on school nights? Just curious because I'm trying to come up with a reasonable time this year... last year I had him staying up waaay to late...

Kind of like the goblin who steals the "other" sock...i swear my sons cups disappear at an alarming rate! Does he have a hidden stash that one day i will discover and stumble upon 200 sippy cups? I swear everytime i do dishes there is at least one missing, and i have searched my house, asked him, and they are just gone...anyone else have this trouble or should i call ghostbusters??

My daughter is in a big kid bed with a bedrail. She needs me to give her milk and then put her to bed. I have to lay there as she twirls my hair until she passes out. it is ridiculous. i have tried simply sitting at the foot of the bed, but she pitches a holy fit that is unimaginable. She wanders into my bed at night and I never even know she is there. Do you think a gate at her door would help? Look, I need some real advice not some mean answers, so please moms help me. Thanks in advance.

Hi , My 18 month old daughter has just found an interest in crayons and colors everything in sight :-). She colors on paper if I seat her on my computer table. So I was wondering where can i get table/chairs her size so that she can sit on them while i work at the *big* table :-). The ones I found are either for older kids or very expensive.
Thanks!

I spoke to my son's (2 1/2 yo) pediatrician about him having flat feet. She said it was normal and that these days doctors don't do anything. To now worry about it, that he should be fine. Supposedly she said that even makes them better when it comes to playing sports. I'm not comfortable with her response, and would like opinions or suggestions. Has anyone gone through this? What did you do?
I remember having flat feet when I was small, but I remember my parents made me wear orthopedic shoes to fix the problem.
Any GOOD help would be greatly appreciated. I don't need criticisms or unwanted mean and rude comments.
Thanks!

She fights me when I get her dressed, change her diaper, put her in the car seat, take her to daycare, bath time- everything. This all started a few weeks ago. Now in the morning she wants me to hold her when I need to be getting ready, at night she wont let me hold her unless Im busy doing dishes etc. Then of course she throws a fit until I pick her up.
