Tomorrow morning is my 3 yr old daughter's first trip to the dentist. We have been talking about it for a couple weeks (not much but a little here and there.) We have read some books about teeth (arthur at the dentist, bearenstein bears dentist) and we also have watched a few tv shows (franklin at the dentist and one other one). My main concern is that I just had my wisdom teeth pulled on Thursday and ended up with dry sockets. She has seen me miserable because of the "owies in mommy's mouth." She seems a little nervous. I have explained that they are going to count and brush her teeth and that she won't get owies like mommy. Any suggestions for getting her prepared for it?

I just had to go through the same thing last tue. My little girl did VERY GOOD! I was proud of her.. I just told her that if she does good for me that we would go to mcdonalds aferwards and play. She sounded ok with it.. My advice is not to make a REAL BIG deal about it.. it will upset you and her both.. and if she thinks you are hiding something or you know something she dosent... It will just make her feel uneasy! Just let her know how big of a girl she is being and everything should go great.. Just let her know if she ask about yours.. that when you are a grown up like mommy the denist has to do special things to your teeth that the denist wont have to do to hers.. The more relaxed you are the more she will be... ; ) good luck though.. the xrays were the hard ones on us.. she didnt like the bite wafer she had to put in her mouth.. she has a bad gag reflex...

Let her take her favorite stuffed animal or doll with her and have the dentist check their "Teeth" first. This might help her be a little more comfortable.
