between 8:30 and 9:00, bath @ 8:00, and depending on how long that takes bed time after, i also let my son stay up to late, and this summer he has became sort of a college student, staying up waaay to late and waking up @ noon.

My five year old (and 7 year old) will be going to be between 7:30 and 8:00. I know many people think that that's too early, but my children need sleep and they can think better at school when they have had a nice long sleep and have time to get up in the morning with no arguments! That makes my life a lot easier too!

as tired as you are, let him crawl in bed with you. Maybe he needs that closeness and contact with you. My youngest will be 4 in November, and has been in my bed just about every morning of his life. For the last year of his life he has started out the night in his bed ( I put him there after he is asleep), then sometime in the middle of the night he gets up to pee, then comes to my bed. Most of the time I do not even know he is there until I wake up and can't move an arm ( 35 pound preschooler on it).

My 3 kids went to bed at 7:30 until they were about 8 and then it was upped to 8pm through elementary school. Middle school was 8:30 and high school was 9pm. Weekends were a little later. I agree that evenings are grown-up time- we all need some time to relax without the kiddies, no matter how much we love them!!! I have 3 grandkids now- 2 of whom live with me- and it's th same schedule for them cuz I STILL need grown-up time!!!

As a mother of 5 I put mine down in enough time that they would get 10-11 hours sleep. They never go right to sleep, plus that was MY TIME!
