My son has been day trained for almost a year (he just turned 3). We still have to put a Pull-Up on him for overnight though. We have put him to bed in underwear and it is just night after night of getting up to change his clothes and sheets. He is a heavy sleeper. Any suggestions?

Make sure your child has a light to see his way to the bathroom.Do not give your child any soft drinks or juice one hour before bedtime, one or 2 oz of water before bedtime should keep your child from wetting so much, also be sure your child potties directly before bed.It is OK for for a child to still wet during sleep, when you sleep your sphincter muscle's are relaxed If you don't have complete control on holding your urine its possible you will wet while sleeping. Continue putting pull up on your child during sleep hours & send him to the potty directly after waking. Eventually he will get it so you can relax and stop worrying.

I feel the same way and I am in the same situation. My son is almost 4 and still wears a pull-up to bed, but my daughter is only 2 and she doesn't need a pull-up. Everyone says that boys are harder to train than girls and it just takes time.
I have tried limiting liquids before bed, waking him in the middle of the night, and all that but it just doesn't work. Even if he does wear underear and wets it- he doesn't wake up.

1. Limit liquids several hours before bed.
2. Make sure he pees when he goes to bed.
3. Wake him after he has been sleeping for four hours and take him to the toilet.
4. First thing in the morning, take him to the bathroom.
5. Encourage him to go on his own, all by himself to build his independence. What worked for my son is The Potty Stool http://www.thepottystool.com He was able to gain confidence and form the habit of going when he felt the urge instead of tending toward helplessness.

his body isnt mature enough yet. put him in a pull up and let him be he will out grow this eventually. the bigger deal you make of this the worse its gonna be,

most kids stop before age 10 some not until puberty hits.

this is normal his body isnt read leave him in a night time pull up my son is almost 5 and still is wet most nights and wears a pull up

my brother was 16 before he stopped and there was nothing wrong with him other than an immature bladder and a very deep sleeper

Just dont give him anything to drink an hour before he goes to bed,,, also. just in case he still wets the bed, get you a trash bag, split it down the middle and put it between the sheets and the mattress.....
I really hope this helps

The joys of potty coaching! My son's pediatrician endorsed that you just wait till virtually three years historic to begin potty coaching boys. Girls generally tend to begin a bit faster, round two a million/two or so. My son is now four a million/two, and potty coaching used to be fairly the wrestle. He has had plenty of constipation disorders and withholding disorders that he needed to see a gastroenterologist for, which not on time potty coaching beyond the pediatrician's endorsed age of three. We used a present method within the starting. I had a box of mini M&M's. Each time he went pee at the potty he bought a million, and every time he went poo he bought two. (The intent we gave him two for going poo is considering that is wherein our wrestle used to be probably because of his constipation and withholding disorders). He went to a babysitter for the duration of the day, and he or she wasn't rather up for doing the complete sweet factor, so he might get little stickers there each time that he went potty. Another giant incentive for him used to be that preschool wasn't too off in his long run, however we might inform him that he needed to be going to the toilet at the potty and no longer in having injuries if he desired to move. So that rather helped matters. Also, deliver a laugh matters in the toilet. With my son, we might deliver books or his magnadoodle in there. We discovered that routinely we simply needed to get him to chill out in order that he would move. As a mum or dad, you understand the persistence children have could be very small, so whilst they're simply sitting there making an attempt and don't have anything else to recognition on, they are able to get pissed off fairly with no trouble. It is helping to position their concentration someplace else. Another idea is to only make a rather giant deal everytime that he is going. Unfortunately, there is no point in time on how lengthy potty traning can take. Each baby is unique, and routinely robust willed kids can take a bit longer. My son nonetheless has injuries occassionally, however they just look to arise at house. He has in no way had an twist of fate at preschool or out in public. We nonetheless need to remind that its time to check out an move to the toilet. Kids simply get so sidetracked whilst they're gambling or doing different pursuits. I realize that after we had been first opening out, we might have him try to move to the toilet each hour or two. Even if he did not constantly move, he might a minimum of check out. Hope this data is helping.
