I believe that dora is a phase and fad and will change. I have a 3 yr old girl that i encourage to play with a variety of things. I think they just want your time, and toys can come and go. So i don't buy just dora(although she has a couple of things) which tend to be overpriced anyway.

I don't mainly becuase I try to stay away from the licensed products for toys and clothes (easier said than done). I do have to admit Dora is a pretty good show, one of the few I actualy don't mind watching. I don't see anything wrong with getting her all Dora stuff as long as she is having fun and learning.

No. SHe has a couple of Dora but what a waste of money when the next charector comes in and she is a famn of that are you going to buy everything of that and then what about all the dora stuff. What a waste. Even your self out and buy a variety of stuff. I think so far its just you

You need to buy a gift for a four year old girl who is going to be 4? Okay, well leapfrog toys are always good, if she likes creating buy her a set of beads in toys r us,she can make her own bracelets ...very cute! Also play dough, moon sand are something that kids love lately! Or since she is a girl, buy her a princess clothing set ,so she can play pretend!

I don't go crazy and buy everything Dora I see, if I did I would be broke. But she does own a couple of things.
I think kids should have a range of toys, but if they naturally gravitate to one character there is nothing wrong with that. As long as there are limits and she knows it.

We quickly learned with my son not to focus too hard on one character (Thomas, Cars movie, etc...) - because then they grow out of it and no longer want to play with all that stuff.
My son used to watch Dora/Diego but within months moved on to something else. I think the problem is good for kids - better than some, at least - since it involves kids in problem-solving, counting, and exposes them to Spanish (not confusing to your child, at least as long as they're not pre-verbal; I have a friend whose 3 yo child is trilingual).

we have a few things- although she would like more. It's like that with ALL kids- they get into something and want everything they see. Just limit it to a couple items and encourage her to have varied interests and to play with a variety of toys . Ther's no harm in allowing an item or two of an obsessed over toy or character.

Here's a funny website for you www.dooce.com
The woman who writes it has a 3-year-old who's totally into Dora. And the mother hates it.
It's a really funny blog.

I don't like Dora. I don't like how they use spanish and english the way they do. I find it confusing for my daughter. I think language exposure is great....but not the way Dora is doing it.
The only dora thing my daughter has...is a book a friend gave me.
