My son will be 3 on October 11th. He is 42+ inches tall (to my waist) and weighs in at about 50 or so pounds. He's growing fast and furious (right now he's chunking up, so he'll be growing in the height department really soon), and I have no idea if his height to weight ratio is normal for his age. I know he's big for a 2 year old, but he's not unhealthy. Hell, he can be healthier then most toddlers. He loves playing and exercising and eats healthy meals. Any ideas on who and what I could ask about his height and weight? (He's bigger than 5 and 6 year olds).

Also, my side of the family is really short. My mom is 5'2, my dad 5'7. Although on my side, we're big boned. Jon(my husband)'s side are fairly "tall", but nothing weird. His dad is about 6'2, his brother is about 6'2, and his mom is 5'7 or 5'8.

Ask your doctor, all children grow differently, my one daughter is above the 95% for weight and 97% for height and my other daughter is at 30% for weight and totally off the chart for height at her age, she is very tall and slender as long as your pediatrition isn't concerned about the size of your some you should stop worrying because he is only 3 there will be alot of things to worry about later in his life. Just ask the doctor.

He's just a big kid. My brother was like that. He was 30 pounds and the size of a 2 year old by 10 months. Now he's 17 and the size of a line backer.

My friends son JUST turned 3 and is the same size as her 6 year old.

As long as he's not over weight he's fine. You can google growth charts for his age group, but he will not fit on them. He'll be more like school age children.

Its his genetics. Check around on your side of the family and your husbands side, some where theres a few very large men, he's taking after them.

I would say your son is tall. Talk to your sons doctor. They usually track growth rates. They would best be able to give you medical advice. There are alot of conditions that cause people to be extra tall , From marzapan, to premature puberity, which does effect children as early as 3. It could be your just going to have a big boy. Great for football or basket ball. But for expert medical advice, or any medical advice see your doctor

Our pediatrician lets us know at every visit how he compares on the growth charts as well as how his growth looks on his individual chart from birth...is it within normal, healthy ranges etc.

Does yours not do the same thing?

According to a calculator I found online

At 34 months:

your child is 50 pounds, and that is
at greater than the 97th percentile for weight.

your child is 42 inches, and that is
at greater than the 97th percentile for height

my son will be 4 in septmeber and he is only 28 inches and 38 lbs-so all kids grow differently. You can always ask the doctor if you are concerned- but as long as he is active and is not taking in too many calories I woudn't worry.

How tall are you and his father?
Ok I looked up my babies child health record book and it says that for a 36month old boy average height is between 96cm and 104cm, weight is between 14.5kg and 18kg.
Your son is 105cm and 22.5kg. So he's going to be a big boy!!

Maybe his height has to do with you and your husbands family!! If you are both tall then he is just following your genes...as long as he is healthy...I wouldn't worry!!

go to his pediatrician and ask them if he's growth is healthy for such a young age...My cousin has gigantisim (something like that )she's 14 and is really tall and devolped early...a few months ago she began to have symptoms like fainting for 1-5 minutes...and other symptoms....Now she takes medicine everyday to heal her gorwth...
So I think you should go to the doctor to make it wasnt that...
goodluck! e-mail me anyquestions!
