Even with our 3 year olds big wheel - he has to wear a bike helmet - even though a crash might be minor, but to get in the habit. I was suprised when we were out on a neighborhood walk to see so many toddlers on big wheel or even bikes without them. Curious on peoples thoughts.

He knew how I felt about it, but while I was bringing our other two daughters to dance class, he went out on the lawn mower with him. It's not even that they just rode on it...he was actually MOWING with him on it.

My daughter is about 16 months and is quite a character. If I ask her where mummy is, she initially points to herself. Eventually after a few corrections she would point to me. SHe points to her daddy when asked where daddy is, why does she point to herself when asked where mummy is?

She has been doing it since she was about 10 months, maybe earlier.

I am not worried or anything, just curious.

My daughter is tunring 5 this month. I noticed she has a big problem with understanding concepts having to do with futuristic situations.
Not time, I know she shouldn't understand time completely, what I'm talking about is this for example....

If she gets in trouble for breaking a rule, she gets a time out and/or a loss of priveledges. Then when i talk to her about it, I say, what should you do if your brother is hitting you? And she tells me what she DID do. I say what are you supposed to do, and again she tells me what she did do. She just doesnt understand what I'm asking her so she keeps telling me what went wrong. Even if i ask her what happened first, she still can't tell the difference in my questions.

Is this a normal issue with a five year old?
How can i work on this concept with her?

Sometimes I go home right after work instead of picking my daughter up right away to get stuff around the house done and also to pay bills etc. It's now nice out so she likes being at daycare to play outside and sometimes is upset when I pick her up because she is not done "playing" with her friends. It's only for the most 2 hours extra I keep her there. She is 5.

Last year we combined birthday parties and it worked out. Should I still go forth this year and combine? It isn't realistic for me to have 2 parties (as some people would be coming for all 3 kids). My oldest also has preschool friends, should I have a separate party for them? My house can accomodate many people....

HELP!! Any advice appreciated!!

My almost 3 year old daughter has started hitting herself when she is angry or frustrated. She went through a stage were she would try to hit us, but she leanred not to do that by getting a time out. So now she will slap herself or even sometimes bite herself..... and the time outs don't seem to be working as well. Any advise? Could their be some other underlying issue?

I have searched the internet and found adult sized, or youth, sized, but no toddlers. My grandson looks like Charlie Brown and I would love to get him a t-shirt. The yellow one with the black zigzag stripe.

He is 100% "boy"... very hyper and physical. So a sit-down-and-color thing will not work... I like the theme ideas, but need to make sure it is kept age appropriate. He is turning 4 but most of his friends are 5 or 6.

My son, who has never had a shy bone in his body, was in tears this morning while he told me he doesn't want to go to school because he doesn't want to practice for his preschool graduation ceremony next week. I asked why, and he said he has to sing and spell his name in front of everyone. So I told him it was okay to be nervous in front of a big group, that LOTS of people are that way, that I would be there in the audience, and so would Daddy, and his brother, and Grandmama, and his aunt and cousin. He finally quit crying when I asked if he'd like me to talk to his teacher so I could find out what they are singing and we can work on it at home with him. When we got to the school, I got a list of stuff they're doing and will work on it at home.

I want to do something special for him, though, like something physical he can have with him up on the stage. I thought about maybe having a picture of the two of us laminated and on a string, so he can wear it.

Any other suggestions?

I function better with a (flexible) schedule, and now that our house is nearly done remodeling, I am putting together a weekly schedule for my 2 year old son and I.
I am looking for some ideas of what to do, and how much time to allow as me time, individual play/activities, and together time.
Thanks :)

She mostly has jars which makes me despair, but as I'm not there every evening to feed her I don't have much choice! She gets 'home-cooked' food at creche and when I'm at home, Thurs-Sun, I give her pasta with pesto, peas, bagels with cream cheese, cheese on toast, smoked salmon, cheerios, petit filoux, fruit purees...

So, I'm looking for more easy to fix foods that I can give her and encourage my partner to give her!!

My husband travels 3-5 days a week and is super busy the times he is home. He tries his hardest to make time for our 2.5 year old, but he can only do so much. Lately, she has been getting hystarical when he "disappears"...like to shower, go to the store, etc. ...to the point where it is affecting her sleep.

I tell her that dadda will come home and try to calm her but she gets SOOO upset. Can anyone recommend a solution for minimizing this seperation anxiety??? I feel so bad for my daughter...but I also feel bad for my husband who gets a guilt trip all the time for working.
