My kids love to set the table when they were young. They got to put on everything but the glasses unless they were plastic. get a little broom and mop set or vacuum and let them make pretend they are helping you. Picking up his room is another good one. My grandchildren like to pick up trash in the yard for a nickel a piece. Even cigarette butts. My yard is so clean. Wiping off the counter. ( i wring the water out for them) They also like to help wash windows with those wipes. So what if he is not perfect. Have him try and you can praise him and go over later if you are not satisfied. I think it is a good way to teach them great self esteem!

My 2 year old likes to put laundry into the hamper, and can "help" with baking - she pours in the cup of water into the batter when I tell her, etc.
Picking up toys is sometimes hard or overwhelming at this age. I always waited until about age three for that task specifically, although I encouraged them to help me to do it.
Spraying plants with a spray bottle of water is a good chore.
You might try having him put his own books away into a large tub or dishpan after story-time. Toddlers seem to have trouble with normal bookshelves, for some reason.
If you have a cat or dog that eats dry food, you can have him use a plastic cup to scoop some food and pour it into the doggie dish. Two-year-olds love to pour! Of course, this only works if you have a sealed plastic tub of food (so doggie isn't fed every five minutes) and a very mellow, non-aggresive pet.
My little girl is also is starting to put her shoes away (into a box on the floor of the closet) and plays at sweeping the floor with a little mini-broom. I always have her help clean up little spills she makes also with a rag and no chemicals.
Mainly the point at this age is to get them excited about helping and learning to feel a little pride at being useful. It sounds like you've got the right idea - just a few little "jobs" to give him the right idea.

My daugher likes to help too. She does most of the things others have said. I also let her "wash" the dishes with me, dust and I have watered down the window cleaner for her to use. she loves to spray them! Watering the plants, with a samll cup that she refills, to play in the water, for each plant. I also got her a maid cart. it has a vacuum the really sucks small stuff, a duster and mop and broom. When I do the floors, she is right behind me, helping. The only thing is that I hope she will still like to clean when she's a teen :)

My son loves to throw things in the trash and put clothes in the hamper, but that is about all I have been able to get him to do so far. He just turned 2, and I cant get him to "put away" anything. He just wants to play w/ whatever we try to put up.

Putting silverware away is one thing my kids enjoyed at that age. They liked the sorting (just remember to get the knives out first!) and it wasn't too much for them. They also like to help in the kitchen...they can dump stuff into bowls and help stir. Your son can even help make his own bed if he is in a toddler bed.

He could put his dirty clothes in the laundry hamper, and help you hang up his clean clothes in the closet.
He could take his plate to the sink after meals.
He could help put his toys away in a toy bin before bed.
Weekly, give him a feather duster and let him dust everythng he can reach (it's good practice ;-)

Hand him the damp clothes out of the washer and let him toss them into the dryer, then close the door. (You can also lift him up and let him push the button!) Picking up toys at the end of the day, too.

Letting him/her picking up after themselves, helping with laundry. Even if your cooking a meal or preparing a meal let them join in they love to help mix and pour!
