It is the law they have to wear them in! I always say I don't care what others are doing with their children. I worry about mine and to protect them. Thats a safety issue! We need to protect our children!!

My son received a tricycle for his first Birthday. The day after I put it all together I went and bought him a helmet. He is now going to be four years old and he knows that when he wants to ride his tricycle he needs his helmet. He also has knee and elbow pads and won't ride without those either. I don't even need to ask him or tell him to put these things on because he feels they are necessary to ride. So the answer for me is this, even if you child is just riding a tricycle they should at least be wearing a helmet. Helmets are fairly inexpensive and it gets your child into a safety habit, as for kids riding bikes, they should definitely be wearing a helmet. Why take the chance of a head injury.

I agree. I get scared for kids when I see them on bikes and tricycles without a helmet. The brain is the most important part of the body; we should try to protect it. A helmet only costs about $15. What's $15 compared to your child's health? Also, a lot of kids don't like to wear them. My rule is; no helmet, no bike. Given that choice, most kids will wear the helmet.

Helmets are a must. All the head injuries that children have may seem like nothing at the time but it may come back to haunt them much later in life. 10-20 years later. Adults should also wear a helmet.

I have ALWAYS made my kids wear helmets. A couple of times I have had people question me. I say it is because I want them safe. My oldest (now 8) has crashed on her bike numerous times but has TWICE broken her helmet. Boy was I glad she had it on. It isn't worth the pain and trauma for them if they don't have it on. Trust me!! Even my 22 month old wears hers on her big wheel.

I think it's a great idea and in my state it's a law. If you're 16 or younger you must wear a helmet. My daughter is 3 also and she wears a helmet as well.

You are absolutely correct, and just because none of the other kids are wearing them does not mean your son doesn't need it. It reminds me of the old saying, " if all the other kids jump off a cliff, will you join them?" It drives me crazy to see the neighbor kids without helmets, in the middle of the street, and all kinds of other dangerous behavior.
