He knew how I felt about it, but while I was bringing our other two daughters to dance class, he went out on the lawn mower with him. It's not even that they just rode on it...he was actually MOWING with him on it.

That's a sticky situation...

I would be OK with it as long as I knew my husband was holding on tight to my son and was being careful.

You were NOT OK with it and I think I would be upset if my husband went behind my back as well. Maybe you would feel better about it if next time you were home and were watching them in the yard so you could see your son is safe with his daddy.

Honestly I don't see the problem with the 5 year old mowing. He's learning at an early age and building up muscles. Make him mow it again, kick back and have a beer in the ac.

No it is not the safest thing in the world, but my husband has done it too. Not at one but at 2 which is about the same. The good thing about a riding lawn mower over something like a four wheeler is, at least they don't go very fast. I would tell him if he must give baby a ride, at least have the blade disengaged and stay in the first gear. He is his son too though so you need to work it out together, good luck!

As Long As He's Paying Attention To The Child, There Shouldn't Be A Problem...
I Mow The Lawn With My God-Daughter All The Time... She's 4 Now And I've Been Doing It Since She Could Stand Up... I Even Let Her "Drive"... Just Pay Attention To Them...

Your child is safer ON the mower than off the mower. Many more accidents involving kids being struck or run over by mowers. I've mowed with all 5 of our kids on the tractor with me. They loved it! Good bonding time and safe as long as you pay attention but that's true of almost anything you do with a kid.

I wouldn't worry about it to much. When I was a youngster my dad use to take me on the lawn mower all the time. My mom didnt like it but when she seen that I enjoyed takin a little ride with dad while he was mowing she was ok with it. Let the little youngster enjoy his bonding time with dad.

Is your husband a responsible parent? Does he pay attention to what the kids are doing and is he attentive when they are outside? Would he be careless and put the kids in danger?
If he is holding your son and is going slow, not acting a fool, then I see no problem with it.
My daughter rides all the time with her dad. He holds on to her, and makes sure he don't let go. When she wants off... or back on.. he stops the mower and gets her on or off safely.
If you trust your husband, you should be able to feel comfortable with your son riding with him.

well I would be fine with it...my 2 and a half year old has been riding the lawn mower with his grandma, grandpa, daddy, and me since he was a baby...he absolutely loves it!! Lawn mowers are his favorite thing and if we go to the store he has to sit on the ones that are on display...if your husband is responsible and holds on to your son well I wouldnt worry...I rode the lawnmower as a baby with my dad so thats why I have always let my kids ride with their daddy...they fall asleep, get to spend time outside, and with daddy or whoever....and we have 6 acres to mow....hes not on the whole time, but he just loves it...he gets off happy and content...and he sleeps great on those nights!!!

I don't see a problem with it... as long as he's not a complete idiot & gonna drop him it is fine.... My 12 mo old daughter helps PopPop mow the lawn all the time! She even gets to "drive." Don't be so protective...ur baby will never have any fun....

I would be jumping with joy that my husband bothered to mow the lawn. I might caution him to be extra careful with our son but I would let him do that whenever he wanted!!!
