My son is 2. I am trying to get him interested in the potty. I very successfully trained my daughter, shes' 4 with a bed wetting record of only 3. My son wants nothing to do with the potty and I have a reason: MY MOTHER IN LAW DROPPED HIM IN THE TOILET! Yes...she did. With out my permission, she took it upon herself to start potty training him. So, his very first attempt at the potty...he falls in and surprise surprise now has a fear of the potty. I bought a potty seat that fits into our toilet as well as a potty chair that I used for my daughter...I'm hoping one of them will work. How do I get rid of his fear of falling in!?!?!

My 5 year old is having a party tomorrow at home. Should she open the presents while her friends are there or wait until they go home. We have a lot planned during the 2 hours her friends will be here. What do you think?

my 2 year old son i noticed today after giving him a bath has several tiny pinsized bumps all over his arms.. from the shoulder to the elbow maybe just a bit further as well, i didnt see any on his back or legs or anywhere else. they resemble itty bitty white heads but not. they don't seem to bother him at all. i am just curious what it could be, a rash of some sort?

they have no color so i don't expect chicken pox

My16 month old toddler has come down with the stomach bug. Is it normal for toddlers to seem to need a comfort item more than usual? My toddler has had his pacifier all afternoon. Any experience would be appreciated. Would it be okay to let him have it for now???

My wife and I seem to have made a rod for our own backs by always giving our little girl, Jasmine, a dummy (pacifier) whenever she is a bit grouchy or tired. Now she won't go to sleep at night without it, although she does sleep perfectly with it. Also when she's happy, which is most of the time, she isn't that interested in the dummy unless offered it directly.

This is far from a desparate situation but we both feel that it would be better if she relied on the dummy less over the next year or so rather than more which I would presume woud happen if we let it.

I'm sure there must be plenty of parents out there with tried and tested techniques for dummy use reduction so I thought, rather than trying to "re-invent the wheel" and work it out ourselves, I'd put this out to the Yahoo community.

Thanks

I have a 2 1/2 year old son that has never been in day care nor have I been away from him for more than 4 hours at a time. I am considering going to work for a year full time. That means I would then be away for 9-10 hours a day. His grandmother watches him but how would it effect him to have me gone suddenly for that amount of time?

My son (4 1/2) has just informed me that he has a "friend" that only he can see living in our apartment. He is very detailed about this little boys appearance, age, and he even has a name. He seems so real to my son, and my son knows and acknowledges that only he can see him. Has anyone else ever dealt with this? Do, I just play along like this person is real, or do I just not say anything about it, or do I tell my son he is not real....??? Thanks for the tips...this is all new to me.

Hello all, I need advice on how to go about potty training my son, he is 2.5 years old, he will be 3 in August and my husband and I have tried to potty train him several times. we gave him treats for sitting on his potty chair, but that's all he did was "sit" and he expected a treat! He has a song "Pee-Pee in the Potty" but he never tells me he wants to go, he hides behind the couch to go #2, and tells me to change his diaper, why wont he go to the potty?? I really would like for him to be potty trained by the age of 3, what do you moms think?? Please help Us!!

He twiddles my hair at first it was cute...but now as he is getting older and bigger (nearly 5) it can actually quite hurt. I have asked him to stop and sometimes have moved away from him...He just can't help it, a comfort thing.

How can i get him to stop!!?

I took him to the doctor today and she looked at the cyst that is on his throat and noticed it was red and he is now on meds to get rid of the infection. She said it looks like the tube that is supposed to close at birth didn't for him and now it has formed a cyst. I couldn't get her to give me more information (I don't think she knew anything else about it) and referred us to an Ear Nose and Throat doctor. We scheduled an appointment but its not for 2 weeks and I want to know what this cyst is!

One of the moms in our playgroup has a 2 year old daughter that is absolutely stunning. She has a very outgoing and fun personality to boot. We always tell her to try to get her daughter into modeling. She has no idea how to start. She is apposed to the pageant circuit, so please don't suggest that route (plus it would not fit her daughter's personality). Any ideas?

Can you tell me what your schedule (feeding and napping) is like for your 1yr old ??

What do you think it should look like if I want him to be up at about 8am (not too early)? (is a very good night sleeper).

My son seems to be trying to drop a nap, but I can't seem to keep him up long enough in the morning, so that he naps later, to have less time between nap and bedtime (to avoid too early of a bedtime)

I don't know if this makes sense to you as you read it, but I'm just confused on how to ease the transition without having him go to bed/wake too early (I work until 12am everynight and am hoping his schedule can be adjusted a bit-- I know I know, may be wishful thinking right ?)

Thanks for input you might share !
