Am I being Fair? I have a 3 year old who I am desperately trying to potty train so I have offered him Chocolate each time he goes Potty. 1 lil piece of Chocolate if he pees' and 2 lil pieces of Chocolate if he goes poopy.
So, now my question is....I babysit a 5 year old lil girl sometimes and she wants a piece of candy too. I have told her that she is already potty trained and I am trying to teach my son to use the potty like a big boy and by him getting the candy is suposse 2be special 4 him.
Now if I give her candy or something to that effect too then I am not doing anything special for my son &he wont see the potty training thing as anything he wants to do if she gets something too. When Hes the one going potty & not her. Am I wrong? What should I do?
The mom said that her lil girl feels treated unfairly &she isn't trying 2have my son &her kid compete but she wants me 2go &buy her kid sweettarts or something so that when I give my son his chocolate reward her kid gets 1 too??

I babysit in my home, I currently ask 15.00 a day for this, per child. They bring the child's food and drinks. With the prices of everything else going up, I am debating going up on my prices as well, is 20.00 a day fair? I read to the children, take them to the park, have educational activities for them to do and so forth and so on. Most of my kids are here at least 10 hours a day. Some more. I only watch 3 at this time and will not babysit more than 5 at a time, no babies. Just 2-4 year olds and 1 seven year old in the summer too. So what do you pay for childcare? and is 20.00 ok? I contacted some local daycares and they ask much more, but I am not a daycare, so to speak. Thanks for your help..

My just turned 3 year old has started to have severe panic attacks before bed. It started about 3 weeks ago. She cries hysterically, and it takes about 2 hours to calm her down to finally fall asleep. Then, she is up every few hours during the night, and wakes up super early in the morning. She occasionally takes an hour nap during the day, but that doesn't seem to help her exhaustion. I am at a loss here... My hubby and I have tried everything, to no avail. Even if I sleep with my daughter, she still wakes up 3-4 times a night and wakes up around 7 am, even after going to bed sometimes past midnight. All of the women in my family have sleeping disorders, including myself, but never did they start at this early age. My daughter is a complete angel during the day, then when bedtime arives she does a complete 180. Any advice or anyone that has gone thru this? Thanks!

I'm new to the whole baby scene, have a little boy due in April. I always remember those "Pack 'n' Plays" or "Play Yards" being called "Play Pens." Is this some sort of attempt to be politically correct, since we don't put children in pens since we put animals in pens? Just wondering!

My son was born at a healthy weight, and until he was about 8 months old, he was in approx. the 50th percentile. When he was 8mo, I stopped producing enough milk and had to switch to formula. He took it fine, but soon dropped to the 25%, and the last time I took him to his well-baby appointment he was only in the 5% for height and weight. He's very intelligent and the docs all said he's either average or above average in everything except height and weight. They put him through a battery of tests last year, testing him for celiac's disease, allergies, cystic fibrosis and so many other things that I can't remember them all. It was horrible, and since nothing came back abnormal they simply listed him as failure to thrive with no given reason why. I thought failure to thrive meant he'd be having developmental issues with thought, speech and motor function as well?
How can I get him to gain weight? I offer food all day, we don't eat junk food and he only drinks milk, juice and water.

My son's birthday is 28th/9/03. He started his nursery school last october two weeks after his third birthday. He now can't start infant school until september 2008 as he doesn't turn four until end of september thus missing the new term by literally two weeks. I need to now if any allowances can be made as I think this is wrong why should he be held back a whole year just because his birthday is at the end of september. His school make allowances in the nursery, where by they have january admissions etc so why don't they follow suit with the infant school?

thanks

My son is 22 months. His nap times vary as he still naps 2x 3hrs most days and sleeps 10 hours at night. He asks me to nap. I dont make him nap. Sometimes when he goes down for a nap (times vary) he goes straight to sleep. Other times he bangs on the wall saying "mum, mum". When i go in he has done a pooh, taken off his nappy and rubbed pooh into the carpet and all over himself and the walls. How do i stop him from doing this? He always has on a clean nappy when i put him down for a nap. This started when we moved house.

I have 4 children, a son 6, a daughter 3 and twins 6months boy/girl. Before the twins came my daughter was fully toilet trained, including nights, hadnt used a pacifier in 2 years or a bottle. Since the twins came, my daughter has started to go backwards. She is now wetting/soiling herself, screaming for a pacifier or taking one of the babies, and wants a bottle instead of her cup. Help?!?

My daughter is 5 and is in Kidnergarden. She has a stable home with a married mom and dad who never fight, a little sister whom she loves very much, pets, and just about everything a little girl needs. She's never sick, she behaves, and I, her mom, am a stay at home mom. So she has the attention of her parents all the time. She has an ear infection and is going to the doc tomorrow to get some medecine. BUT --- for 2 days now she's been crying a lot. She never cries! She says that the words she speaks stay in her head and songs stay in her head and she wants it to stop. She holds her head and cries. Today at a resturant she broke down in tears over it, got under the table, rocked back and fourth, and mumbled to herself. On the way home she tried not to cry as she asked us for a hug! After she got her tylenol she was much better, but still pretty sensetive. Should I be concerned or does it sound like five year old woes? I'm seeing her pediatrician tomorrow about her ear anyway...
