no. they are a toddler. these things generally come and go in stages. If there is no change after a few months when new skills start to develop, you might want to talk to your doc., but I wouldn't worry.

All babies get obssesed with something, especially when they can make things work. Like wheels spinning, (that is what my 20 month old loves to do) doors opening and closing, hiding things. I wouldn't worry too much. If you have a great concern though, call the doctor. It can't hurt to ask and then you will feel better.

NO!! My son used to rock forward and back while sitting on my lap. And line up all of his toys. He's 5 and fine!!! If those are the only signs don't worry unless he doesn't grow out of the obssessive behavior.

Not necessarily, but you are correct to be watchful. Toddlers do often have some quirky habits that they grow out of, if your child seems normal and developmentally on cue with everything else, then I wouldn't worry too much. If the behavior continues talk to the doctor and see what they say...

If that's the only symptom or sign then probably not. But if that's coupled with not making eye contact, refusing physical closeness, inability to make emotional connections, and delayed language skills then you should definitely have you child checked out. If you're really concerned simply ask his pediatrician. Its always better to be safe.

That sounds like a normal toddler. I have a link that will describe what to look for at different ages from infant to toddler to young child.

I think this is just normal behavior. The only sign of autism in infants I have heard of is if the only way to get them to stop crying is by swinging them.

I don't really think so. I would watch for thing like not smiling, not wanting hugs and kisses. Not making eye contact. Not talking or babbling
