He twiddles my hair at first it was cute...but now as he is getting older and bigger (nearly 5) it can actually quite hurt. I have asked him to stop and sometimes have moved away from him...He just can't help it, a comfort thing.

How can i get him to stop!!?

It sounds like it is something he does to soothe himself. My son does the same thing with clothing tags.
I would calmly tell your son that when he twirls your hair that it hurts you and makes you feel sad. He wouldn't want to hurt his mommy, so he'll think about it. Then ask him what other kinds of things could he do instead of playing with your hair?
He'll have a few suggestions, you'll have a few suggestions. Try them all.
When he starts to twirl your hair again, remind him that it hurts you, and run through suggestions again.
Hope this helps.
Good luck Hon.

Get him something else to twiddle...he's old enough for a little blankie with ribbon and buttons sewn on. Or wear a large bead necklace if he must twiddle something on you.
