My daughter is 7 and way shorter than your son, and I know she's not suffering from dwarfism. Every time you go to the Pediatricians office they should measure his height and weight and mark it on this little chart. Most kids track along a certain percentile. As long as your son is consistently tracking close to the same percentile at all times, then he's fine. Pediatricians also go by Body Mass Index to see if a child had any potential problems. It really sounds like your son is fine. If you are worried because he's shorter than his classmates or something then he must be around some really tall kids because at his height, your son is definitely not below average height for this age.

I doubt it's dwarfism, my son is about 4'5' and he's 7 but he's the tallest in class. I think that he's just short. Talk to his doctor when he goes for a check up!

3 foot 11 at 7 is way bigger then being a dwarf man. Dwarfs are full grown people being like 2 foot 8. He's just short.

that doesn't sound abnormal to me. are you tall? short? how tall is your spouse? does dwarfism run in your family? your spouse's? i say give him a few more years, and maybe he'll "sprout like a weed". actually girls, for the most part, grow faster than boys. right now, i don't think there's anything to be alarmed about.

I have no idea, but doesnt he have a pediatrician? Kids are supposed to have a yearly checkup, which includes monitoring height and weight on a chart. If your child is below the average, the Dr will discuss this with you and get a specialist in to figure it out.
Go see the Dr.

my oldest daughter will be 7 in august and shes only 3'5" and the doctor says shes just fine.....her brother (who is 16 months younger) is 8 inches taller than her and her little sister (who just turned 4) in only 2 inches shorter........her pediatrician said....."every kid is different, just love your children the way they are and leave the worrying up to me" there are a million things that could make him short, and as mentioned by others you would know by traits that he was a dwarf.

A 4-foot seven year old sounds pretty normal to me. I think if he was a dwarf, you'd know by his physical characteristics (big head, short arms/legs, etc.)

That's taller than I was at that age, and I'm 6'1" now, so I wouldn't worry too much.
