please only answer if you have kids. if you don't even have kids, then i don't want your opinion. i'm not trying to be rude, but people without kids always think they know better about how to raise kids than those of us who are actually doing it.

I'm 15yrs old and have a 4 1/2yr old half brother Matt. I'v never really known my father but my step-father was in my life since I was 9 and sadly he died about a year ago leaving my mom to bring up my brother and I alone.

Since then its been pretty rocky in my house, of course we have all been very upset over his death but it has especially effected my Mom. My mom has started getting more and more annoyed with the little things we do.

She sometimes spanks him, and by the way before you all start saying "go get help shes abusing him" I wouldn't be posting this if she was I would be off getting help already, its just like a small spank he does;t cry for more then a second i think its more the shock then the pain (and no im not trying to justify it) but still its a spank..

I'v tried talking to my mom and shes always says later, when she does listen she says she still upset about Marco(step-dad)'s death and then for a week or something suddenly shes "Miss amazing mom" then shes

so im about to have a baby in about a week maybe less and i have a 3 year old that requires a lot of attention i love her to death but lately she has been getting out of hand.
sometimes if she doesnt want a hot dog for lunch she just tosses her plate off the table and i tell her..
'Bailey that was not apropriate please dont do that again now you have to eat the dirty food.'
she pretends like she doesnt understand but she dose very well.
but she can also be very sweet like i ask her about that baby not to mention she is in love with the idea of being a big sister but i ask her whats the babys name?
and she replies..
'gabriel brian'
very sweetly.
the other day she had a babysitter and she never crys when i leave but she screamed like she was dying you moms know that scream.. but i finally got her to stop and she said the reason she did that was to see if i would change my mind about taking her. arg! and with my husbanmd being in germany with his family im so stressed!
HELP!!!

Where can I find some from this decade? Wal-Mart only has Elmo books, which are OK; however, I'm looking for books with all of the characters. Sesameworshop.com has some as well as allaboardtoys.com; however, I would rather go to the store than order them online. Any ideas? The only stores I have in my area are Wal-Mart and Shopko. I could drive to Target or some place else if they have them. Thanks!

I just found out that im pregnant with my second child, and i am worried that my first born, who is two years old, will be very jealous and hateful to the newborn when it comes. I think this because anytime i babysit or just hold a friends baby, she starts shoving it and hitting it, i tell her no, but she is hard headed and doesnt like to be told no. I have trouble with her anyways, but i would like to know the best solutions to start now, so that when her new sibling comes she will already be used to the idea. thanks

I am sure there isn't a medical thing going on, so it isn't that. When he is on the changing table, getting dressed, going to bed, doing anything he doesn't want to be doing, he becomes a terror. Screaming, pinching, biting. He hasn't learned this behavior anywhere!!! We are calm and normal parents. It seems to be quite natural. Is this a stage?

I take care of my 21mo old toddler full time and do a good job of tending to her needs. She is a very happy child but lately she has started to cry when she gets frustrated with something such as her toy getting stuck between her bed and the wall or if she wants to run around the house but I put her in her room to play.
I usually help her get her toy un-stuck and show her how I did it or tell her that she needs to play in her room and will get her doll house set up. I decided to try a new strategy and let her solve her own problems when I hear that frustrated cry.
Over the past few days, the frustrated crying has nearly stopped and I've noticed my daughter testing and trying new things when she has a problem. If she can't figure something out, I'll teach her but I usually give her a chance to do it on her own.

I like where this is going and want to continue to teach my daughter to problem solve on her own. Any suggestions on how I could improve my system?

Right now he only seems to like,Beans, Broccoli, Bannanas and Wheat bread and rice occaisonally and scrambled eggs. Im not really worried but the house is starting to smell really badly from all the Broccoli that Ive been making. He likes pancake too but I only give him those everyonce in a while as a treat for breakfast
this kid is going to be jet propelled soon.

Any suggestions ?

My Granddaughter is in pre school and is very bright. She has had listening problems since she turned 3. She has trouble going to bed and staying asleep since birth. She now has a 1 month old sister and is behaving badly at pre-school. her Mom and Dad spent a lot of time with her and expect quite a lot. She also has a lot of runny noses and trouble with sinus. Is all of this related or is she just going through a 3 year old soon to be 4 yr. phase. I am very worried about her.

Everywhere I look I either see beds that you can buy rails to add on to them or the toddler bed that has what I would say isn't even half a rail on each side of the bed.

What I'm looking for is a toddler bed that has the rail that runs the full length of the matress. It kind of resembles a crib, only it's a bed and the rails aren't as tall.

I know they have to exist, I've seen them before.

Can anyone point me in a direction???

Like sometimes when I enter a room my 16 month old son dances when he sees me. It makes me think I must be doing a pretty good job to have my kid be "dancing happy" when he sees me. What about you and your kids?
