i am trying to save money and want to cut my son's hair myself. I have been looking online to find tips and how to instructions but have come up with only books to buy on how to cut hair. Does anyone know how to cut a boy's hair?

J, very very carefully...LOL I had twins and I always cut their hair until they were 19.
First, make sure you have very sharp scissors.
Second, brush his hair from the crown down around his head.
Third, have a friend to help.
Fourth, hold his sweet bitty face and cut the bangs from the top of one ear in a gentle arc across his forehead to the top of his other ear...temple to temple so to speak.
Now, pull his bitty ears forward if he's not wiggling too much and trim around behind his ears.
Then have someone to entertain him and possibly hold his head straight while you trim around the back of his neck.
Viola! there you have it.
Good luck with your wiggly worm.

well as long as its not in his eyes I wouldn't worry to much. I cut my sons hair by myself all the time and its always turned out pretty good but my sister in law is a hair styalist and I have watched her cut ahir numerous times.

My only suggestions I could rally think of that could make a differnece over the computer though would

1. buy a pair of hair scissors. this makes it easier to keep the hair you are cutting one length.

2. plan to cut the hair longer then you want it because you will always need to touch it up. If you want 2 inches off only cut off one, if it looks great then leave it, it most likely won't though and at that point you can go from there touching it up. Hair always ends up shorter then you plan when you do it yourself, so if you plan fr it to be longer then it will end up normal.

3. to see if the hair is even in any given spot grab a bunch between your index and midle fingers, run them down across the hair to the bottom and you will see if the ends are sticking out longer.

4. try witht he hair wet and the hair dry. Some people are better at doing it one way and some the other. Personally I like to do it dry because I see what it will look like when done at that very moment.

5. Just don't give him a mullet ;)

You have two choices. You can either invest in a flowbee, so fun the whole family will enjoy it and pays for itself in only 5 uses! Or the ol' bowl on top and cut around the edge. Be sure to take plenty of pictures to show all his future girlfriends!

THIS IS CRUCIAL...!!!! FIRST STEP... GET A CAMERA..!!!!
THIS IS ESSENTIAL...!!!! 2ND STEP.... GET A WITNESS WHO CAN RUN THE CAMERA...!!!!
THIS IS ADVICE....!!!! 3RD STEP... AR ANGE MIRRORS ..SO THE KID CAN SEE WHATS HAPPENING TO HIM...!!!
AND THIS IS THE FINAL STEP... TAKE AS MUCH 'TIME' AS HE WILL AL OW YOU TO DO IT RITE,,,!!!
if you follow these simple steps, yo will have one of life's fondest memories on a tape when you are old, and he is doing the same thing to his kid.
