My son is literally driving me crazy!!! No matter what boundry I set he crosses it, usually with a grin. I have tried time out and everything. He is majorly defiant. Refuses to eat, insists on touching stove, very mean to his baby sister, very very greedy. I am trying to keep my cool and properly discipline at the same time...

What type of discipline for this problem, if any. She seems to understand that it is wrong but she still does it. She does it to her mother too.

I need a cute poem to tell my class of 4 year olds. It needs to be about Grandparents or about being dropped off and/or picked up from school. Any ideas?

My 4 year old son has just started preschool and has not made a friend yet. We live in a small town and there are only 3 boys in his class. He has known these boys for 2 years as they all attended play group together and one of the boys is our neighbour. The other 2 boys have made a strong friendship with each other and won't let my son in. They have started calling him names and saying that they hate him. The nieghbors son appears to be the instigator. My son has responded by pushing or hitting. On the rare occassions that they have let him in, which on one occassion was at playgroup where I witnessed my son copying the other boys by calling another little boy names. I want him to fit in as I'm worried about his self esteem, however I don't want him to end up as nasty as the other boys. He seems to like being on his own most of the time but my fear is if he doesn't make his friends now it will be harder for him later when he really does want the company of others. Advice needed.

he went through a stage where we had to buy one EVERY time was saw one at the store, so now has has a ton. he does play with ALL of them, so i don't want to get rid of them, it would break his heart, he loves them....just looking for a unique way to store them in his room. has anyone else had this problem? any clever ideas?? i want for him to still have access to them, not stored away from him.... thanks :)

And please no smart butt answers... i know how some of you can be !!

I'm just curious- are these things solely American? I'm in the UK and have a 22 month old daughter, but have never seen them when shopping for her medicines...

If so, PLEASE have them tested for Rett Syndrome! It is HIGHLY misdiagnosed as autism and CP and is almost always exclusive to girls. My daughter was misdiagnosed and was recently tested and had positive test for RS. For more info: www.rettsyndrome.org

My son just turned four, and a he's little behind the curve. he's had hearing problems, a surgery, and a whole lot of coddling.
I've been trying to do flash cards with him using the disney learning series for ages 3 and up. I've been focusing on colors and shapes because that's where he's lacking.
He'll make an effort on the first two or three. Then he just stares at them blankly, and says "i dunno". He'll say "you do it, mommy". from that point on he has no interest.
I wind up irritated and frustrated. So, rather than get angry, I give up. Then, he wins, and off he goes, doing whatever he pleases. Thus no learning gets done.
How can I get him to engage without tearing my hair out? How can I get him to learn what I'm trying to teach him?

I'm bi-polar, and "regulated" with medication. So, I am prone to get nervous and high strung, even some temper from time to time. Sometimes we both have a hard time focusing too.

We really do need your help.

I will report rudeness

My husband and I recently started potty training our 30 month old daughter. She seems to understand the concept that her pee and poop go in her potty chair. She obviously does not know her body signals of when she needs to go yet, I understand in time she will learn those signals.

My question is...is how long do you usually allow them to sit on the potty chair whether something comes out or not? First thing in the morning and after she wakes from her daily nap, I usually take her to her potty and allow her to sit so she can grasp the concept to try go when she wakes up. I try to take her after each meal as well. Or try to take her every 1 1/2 to 2 hours. There are times where something will come out within 20-30 minutes, other times will just sit there and read, color, or sing songs for over an hour and nothing comes out. Is an hour too long for her to sit there? She doesn't seem to mind sitting there for that long.

My mom said I'd sit for hours when she trained me @18 mo

I am travelling with a 2 year old and would like to avoid having to lug a car seat onto the plane. I know there is a CARES system for the plane that I can purchase, but I don't know if I can rent a car seat for the car I will need to rent. (Flying to Colorado Springs).
