heck no! in fact more people should wait because you're most likely established in your career, your education, and mentally so that you can give a child the proper attention and care he or she needs. most young people are still self-absorbed and trying to make a name for themselves or trying to find themselves so alot of the time and energy is spent on themselves instead of the child...and there's nothing wrong with being self-absorbed, it just becomes a little bit of a problem when someone else comes into the picture that needs the attention more than you do.

Definitely not Kim - that's a good age to have a second baby. I'm almost 31 and have a 1 year old, so 33-34 will probably be about the time I have a second baby too. People are leaving it later and later these days, but I have a whole bunch of gorgeous friends who are my age and 'if' they had found Mr Right to have babies with by now, they would have definitely had one....the point I'm getting at is that lots of women around our age would love to have a baby around now, if only they could find the right man! So go for it. It's not too young and you'll still have a great quality of life and time for yourself/ Career, travelling etc. when they're in their teens. Good luck Fellow Yummy Mummy of the 00's xx

I don't think it's to old.
But, let me tell you what it's like being the child of a parent that is OLD lol hehe
My mom was 36 dad was 39 when I was born. They already had 2 girls and 2 boys. 3, 5, 8, 13
I always thought they were gonna die lol maybe all kids feel this way but I remember going to school when I was in first grade and it was the first time I'd noticed the moon out during the day. Well I was convinced that it was going to fall on my house where my mom was. I probably just wanted to stay home with mom. Silly Girl. he he
I worked with this gal who had her first at 45, he's in high school now and she's still working at 62. I guess those are the things you have to think about the care and education of the kids. Are you willing to work forever, etc. If so then go for it and the best of luck to you and your kids.

No I dont think that 33 is too old to be pregnant. In fact, even women over age 35 have healthy pregnancies and healthy babies. I would talk to your doctor first about having another child if your plannig one. If your are already pregnant I would talk toyour doctor about the possible risks. There are some risks with having a bay at that age though. Its high risk pregnancy. Here are some:
Risk of chromosomal abnormalities and maternal age:
From ages 25- 29, the risk for down syndrome is 1 in 1100. At age 35 it is 1 in 350. So there is a big increase in risk with age.
Other chromosomal abnormalities reads: From ages 25-29 1 in 385 and at age 35, 1 in 178.
Risk of miscarriage and maternal age:
Some studies have shown a higher chance of miscarriage (early pregnancy loss) in older mothers. When considering all women, about half of first trimester miscarriages occur because of a chromosomal abnormality in the fetus. Because these abnormalities increase with maternal age, miscarriage is also more likely.

As long as the prospective mother is healthy 33 sounds like a very good age to have another child. Old enough to have experience young enough to enjoy the child growing up.

Look at it this way, at 33, you will be 52 or so when the child graduates from high school.
I think it mainly depends on the physical state of the mother. If they are healthy as a horse...and fit for the job...then go for it, if not...if they are just having the baby blues...then maybe that can be solved by volunteering to hold the babies at the local hospital or something like that.

Gosh I'm 33 and I'm not old!!
My sister in law had her first at 40 and she had an easy labour and is a great mum.
I think having kids in your 30's is great because you've had your fun days when you're younger and you've got loads of life experience to hand down to your kids.
If you want a second child then go for it! Good luck.

There are a lot of things to consider when you ask a question like this. For instance there are a few things to consider:
- did you pass all of your tests when you had a physical?
- do you get enough exercise?
- are you on any medication that could possibly cause birth defects?
- if you have been on medications, did you ask a health professional when it would be completely out of your system. Some drugs can stay in your system for 2-3 yrs or more.
- is your spouse or father to be healthy and drug free?
You need to weigh out all variables before considering to have a child at this age and older.
