I am travelling with a 2 year old and would like to avoid having to lug a car seat onto the plane. I know there is a CARES system for the plane that I can purchase, but I don't know if I can rent a car seat for the car I will need to rent. (Flying to Colorado Springs).

Some companys do. It just depends on which one you rent from. Call a few places and ask them. Heres a website

Some of them do, but the concern is you don't know the quality or history of the seat. What if it was in an accident previously? Or its expired? Besides...ew. Who knows if it was cleaned...ever. Yuck.

I am traveling this week with a 1 1/2 year old and a 7 month old, and we bit the bullet and bought tickets for them (expensive, but most airlines do a discount for infants in a carseat). Much safer for the plane and the car.

Ask the car rental company how much it'd be, and then see if you would be able to buy one of higher quality for about the same price. Remember, the rental company may likely have old and used ones which may not be up to par in protecting the child.

I have never herd of rental companys offering car seats, I would say bring your old one or get a new one they are not that expensive, usually under 20.00 at a wal mart good luck!!!

We got one when we rented a car in Orlando, Florida. I'm not sure if they have them when you just rent a car locally. I'm sure the rental company's website would tell you.

Some do, call them to ask. Call the hospital there too, they may know someone who does or even rent them themselves (although hospitals usually rent infant seats not toddler ones).

All the big name companies do, but its about $10/day so you'll have to weigh the cost against the inconvenience of bringing yours with you.

Yes but it is expensive. Your better off just going straight to the store and buying a cheap one.
