Yes. It's most often stress related. My son did it for a couple of months when he was 7 (during the divorce of his father and me). It didn't cause any dental problems (as far as teeth go) but I know from my personal experience that if it happens long enough, it can cause TMJ (Because I grind my teeth in my sleep).

Children grinding their teeth is not that unusual. You can buy them mouthgard's that are like retainer for when they go to sleep if they are old enough. If they are very young, you are going to have to watch for it and try different things for it to stop.

You want to stop this early. I know a girl who sucked on her thumb until she was 14, and now her front teeth are all pushed up into her gums from it, and it looks horrible.

It should stop with time, and I wouldn't worry about it too much, because there are adults who grind their teeth also. A dentish can smooth out the teeth once the child is old enough

Hope you found this helpful, and best of luck!

Yes...she started at six months and it went on for a few weeks...no dental issues, it was one of those 'I'll do it because I can' things...after all, there's not much a six month child CAN do!
