How do you get a child to stop screaming for you to come sleep on his floor when he is in his crib? He's 1 1/2??? He crys so hard he makes himself vomit! All he wants is me to sleep on the floor with him and hold his hand until he falls asleep. How do you break this?

My daughter brought home her progress report from preschool. One of her goals is to listen better. She is easily distracted and doesn't always follow through with directions. Any suggestions on how to help a 4 1/2 year old listen and follow directions better?

My almost three year old is so hyper, I could attach him to an electrical socket and light up the entire town! He will not sit down even for two minutes. He does not watch cartoons (this means he would have to sit still), he runs up and down the hall for hours, doesn't sleep during the day and falls asleep at long last at 2 in the morning! I take him for very long walks, to playhouses, trying to curb this energy, but it is useless. I have taken away sugar and chocolate, but nothing. He was born with developed muscle mass and is very strong for his age (he loves to upturn my cherry wood dining room table if you can believe it). How can I make him calm down?

I have a seven year old son and I have worked for the same company for 5 years. Durging this time, my son has had four childminders. The first he hated, the second decided to go back to school, the third put her prices up and was too expsive. The fourth? Well my mum lifts my son from school and drops him off to her house. When they arrived yesterday she told him(hes 7) that she sent me a text message yesterday saying she was ill and couldnt look after him. I never got this. Today she has text me (I did get it) to say shes sick again. Also, on two occasions I have went to lift my son and she has not been there but her husband.

What should I do?

My son isn't at all keen for a new childminder and to be honest I fell like giving up work. All our family work and so cant help out.

I babysit my two granddaughters Kenzie, 4, and Lexie, 21 months. Today Kenzie is supposed to go swimming with her pre school class at the high school pool. Lexie is sick. She has a fever of 101 and generally feels like crap.

Two other Moms have agreed to watch Kenzie in the pool because only the class is allowed to swim today. I would still have to drive her there and either wait an hour and a half or go back after that time to get her.

My daughter gave me the impression that SHE thinks that Kenzie should go but I hesitate to take Lexie out in out the damp, cold Michigan weather.

Here is my dilemma. Out of the four days that I baby sit, Tuesday is the only day that we don't have to do anything and can just relax all day. Am I being selfish by not wanting to take Kenzie to swim and using Lexie's illness to get out of it?. Frankly, she does NOT care one way or the other if she goes.

What would YOU do?

chours and homework I let them go to the school on the corner where we live a couple of houses down from our house, to play basket ball. All children in the neghborhood go there to play basketball. Before it got dark I sent my son to school tell the girls to come home, he came back to the house said did not see them, so we form a search party, oh yea the neghbors grandaughter was with them, anyway, search party of five people. We could not find them for a least minuets. When I decided to call the police they appeared. They were in side the school looking around. They said that the Janitors there let them in. My first reaction was to knock the crap out of them, then hug them. But I yelled at them, explained why we were worried and what could have happen to them. They said they thought it was alright because they new the janitors. I explain to them that sometimes just because you know men don't mean you can trust them like that. Noharm done to the girls Did I do the right thing?

My 21month old has dropped his day sleep. He still needs it because just after lunch he starts showing all his tired signs. I put him down and do all the normal routines that I used to do but he will just cry in his cot until I come and get him. It's really starting to get on my nerves because he is just so cranky. What can I do to get him back into a routine? Also is this normal?

He literally goes to bed with milk in one hand and his willy in the other and when i wake him in the morning he still has hold of it. This goes on all day long apart from playschool or when we are out thankfully. when he is at home playing or relaxing he has to have hold. This is my third boy and i know it is normal for them to explore but this doesnt seem normal.. Could his foreskin be too tight or something so he is comforting himself. I really dont know. He isnt in any pain as he always seem to be happy doing this. Any advice would be great Thank you

I asked a question the other day about what sort of bed to put my 2.5 year old daughter in. I was SHOCKED that some women could not believe she was going into the bed so late and told me they put their own children into bed and between 9 and 15 months. Oh my god. 9 months old. Just because her child walked at 7 months she thought she should be put into a real bed at 9 months. Am I over reacting? Is it just like this in some parts of the world. Would that part happen to be America?? Cots are built so well now, so sturdy that there is no harm in leaving your child in it until they are 2. It saves accidents. Means she is that bit older coming out of it that she understands that she has her own bed now and knows the excitment of it. And my mind is at ease knowing while she is in the cot she is not jumping out roaming the house while we all sleep. which is quite possible. Its a big cot. And she is VERY tall for her age and she is no where near too small for it. What do you think?

I have an only son and I wonder how this will effect him later in life. It took 7 years over all to have him so I know it wouldn't be easy to just give him a brother or sister . I also don't know if making a final decision to not have any more is the right one.

My daughter has had a cold and cough for the past few months. The cold has now subsided but she keeps having horrendous coughing fits but only at night.

I took her to the doctors a couple of weeks ago just to have her checked out as she also had a bad cold at the time. He listened to her chest and said it was clear and it was just a cold. I am wondering if it could be the onset of asthma?? The coughing also starts if she has been running around.

Obviously i will be seeking advice from my GP but i just wondered if anyone had had any similar experiences with their children and what the outcome was.
