he's picking his nose

they all do it, you can't really stop him

pick your battles and just try to teach him not to eat it when he comes up with something

I have 20 month old twins who pick their noses. My little boy doesn't do it as much as his sister. My daughter will bring anything she gets to you to throw away, which is a good thing I think.

Perfectly natural. You will also find him putting his finger up your nose, too. It fits and that amazes him right now.

I would not make a big deal out of it but, I would if I was next to him when he put his finger in his nose pull it out and tell him, "Don't stick things in your nose". It could be jelly beans next.

Don't get overexcited when you tell him this or he will do it for attention.

It is just a phase and it too will pass. I wouldn't worry about it unless he is cutting the inside of his nose with his fingernails.

He is old enough to understand so ask him if his nose hurts. Sometimes kids stick their finger in their nose because it is dry and bothers them. Just put a little Vaseline or antibiotic cream inside his nose and that will take care of it.

Small child often does many things due to the reason it is a child. You will have to properly guide the child properly with lots of patience and intelligence. Bringing up children with good habits and positive ideas is an art - not many know this. Your 21 month child is not doing anything like childish but it is a child - you must know this.

Hindus believe that a child upto 5 years of age is equal to God. In other words, you have to treat the child as a God upto the age of 5 years.

My 16 month old does that! Babies just like to explore their bodies, and he has found that his nose has holes he can put his fingers in :) Try not to call too much attention to it - he'll move on to something else soon enough :)

Seat your boy on the floor or in his infant seat, and sit facing him
Sing the following song, and move your boy's finger to the appropriate body parts.
Put Your Finger in the Air
Put your finger in the air, in the air,
Put your finger in the air, in the air,
Put your finger in the air, then put it in your hair,
Put your finger in your hair, in your hair.
Put your finger on your nose, on your nose,
Put your finger on your nose, on your nose,
Put your finger on your nose, then put it on your toes,
Put your finger on your toes, on your toes.
(repeat with arm/leg, cheeks/chin, lip/hips, neck/back, then)
Put your finger on your finger, on your finger,
Put your finger on your finger, on your finger,
Put your finger on your finger, and then in your lap,
Put your finger in your lap, in your lap.

At the end of the song, give a clap!
so he can learn this activity and by time he forgets all about getting his finger in his nose.
good luck.

cheers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

you need not worry at all... however, remove his hand away from his face softly... so that he doesn't form habit of touching his face all the time...
