Recently, my sons day care centre has expressed concern regarding my sons speech. At home he is fine, he can ask for what he wants and if he cant get it out, he shows me. At school apparently he does not talk to any other kids and doesnt interact. They say he should be asking them to pass him things and asking them to play with him, but he doesnt. They think he has a speech delay but I think he is just finding his feet at his own speed. In the last month he has started to say so much more. What should a 'normal' 2 1/2 year old be saying by now?

I was thinking about being a babysitter for other people's kids (obviously) but I was wondering if I'm watching several people's kids at once regularly at what point would it become a home daycare? I'm just trying to figure out if I need to get a degree in early childhood, get lienced to be a daycare director or what. I just don't want to get into this and all of a sudden I'm in trouble because I missed something some where. Thanks for your help!

She has been ptty trained since november, and I have shown, helped and explained to her how to wipe, and why it is so imprtant to wipe well, from front to back, and we wash our hands when we are done. She complains that her "pookie" hurts, and won't let me wash it without a fight, and she won't let me look at it or touch it. What should I do, could it be a yeast infection, and if so, how do I treat it? I am afraid to take her to the doctor, because if she won't let me touch it, she won't let them, and once she had to have a catheter in the ER, and she threw a mighty fit, because I have taught her so long that strangers aren't suppose to touch her private area, and she told the nurse she wasn't alowed to touch her. It was the most horrible pain I ever felt, because there was nothing I could do to help her, or calm her.

I am a very loving, emotionally and physically available mother for my 3 year old son. So how come everytime he's with me he tells me he wants to be with his grandma, father (we're separated), aunts etc.? It really hurts my feelings. He doesn't do this to anyone else when he's with them. For example today, I took him bike riding just me and him for a few hours. We had so much fun and bonded so much. We got home, I gave him a bath, read him a book and gave him a kiss goodnight. He then blurted out his daily, "I wanna go to Softa's (grandma) house." I just don't understand. I mean I'm a good mother and I do discipline fair. I don't abuse my child. I show plenty of love to him. Isn't a child supposed to be attached to his mother? I don't react when he tells me these things so he's not just saying it to get a reaction. I keep it to myself. I know it's sometimes normal for them to feel close to someone else, but this is crazy. He never wants to be around me, he's always complaining. Help!

This other mother and I have taken turns taking each others kids and my 20 month old daughter is being tormented by this 4 year old demon child that I have volunteered to take. This boy already has an extensive vocabulary that consists mostly of filthy words and he teases my daughter who barely talks or understands why she's being pushed around

I try to separate them but he seems to be a sadistic four year old who won't stop. He even calls me names until I put him on the "stairs" and then told his mom I was "mistreating" him. She assured me she didn't believe him but has been suspicious looking around me.

I would never mistreat a child, but what do i do with this manipulative brat!?!

I only have one child and I am a younger mother than this other mom who already has 3 kids...what do i do?

I have been potty training my 3 year old boy for over a month now. Everything has been going great. Nothing new happened in our household. He just pee's and poo's on the floor. even when he is right beside me. I don't know what to do. We have been so positive and happy and proud of him. Now it's like he knows better and it makes me sooo angry when he has an accident, it never used to make me angry I used to say "oh did you have an accident, that ok next time run to the potty". What do I do to make him go on the potty? any ideas from experience parents?

My daughter's school sends bills for her lunches/breakfasts and we then pay for past due and about 2 weeks ahead. Then we wait for them to send us another bill and so on and so forth. It has been this way since I can remember. Well, last week Tues we got a bill for her meals. I always write bills out on Fridays. Friday she got another bill signed by the principal stating bill must be pd or no meals will be allowed after 2/26(today). I wrote out a check for $100 to cover past and future like normal and put it in her folder to take to school today. She got to school this morning and got in the breakfast line and was told she was not able to eat breakfast. My daughter is 7 and had no idea why she was being told this or she could have just taken the check out of her folder and gave it to someone. No call was made to me or her dad stating they were not gonna allow her to eat or we could have explained where the money was. I am upset about this and wanted some opinions.

OK I have a 4 and a half year old little girl! How for the last year and a half has been doing really well on the potty training thing. But here in the past 3 weeks or so. She has started having accidents in her pants. And not potty accidents. She has been pooping in her pants. The really odd thing though is that there isn't any potty when she does it. Just poop. I don't know if she is just regressing like the Dr. says or if maybe she is experiencing a problem that I need to get a second opinion for. Has anyone else been through this. I could really really use some advice right now!

I am trying to keep an eye on sugar intake for my 4 yr old stepdaughter, just for health sake. However she, of course, loves the ones FULL of sugar...you know the chocolatey ones or the rainbow colored ones. I would like to give her something a bit more exciting than cheerios or rice krispies every once and a while. What kinds have a lower sugar content than the next, but would still be fun and yummy for a "treat" cereal?

I don't know the name of it but please tell me if you know what I mean...It looks kind of like a sofa, it has like arms and everything but it is a pillow to put in the bed. My father is sick he has to be all day in bed so I just wanna get that for him because it's comfortable, but I can't find it anywhere because I don't know the name of it, do you know what I'm talking about?
I know it's confusing, but thanks ;)

He will not drink it. Tried the flavored Dsani's, Crystal Lite, and even the clear Pedialite like the Dr suggested but he WILL NOT drink it. He won't even drink juice if its diluted. I hate masking the water to get him to drink it but I can't let him drink juice like he wants because he has stomach problems and I know its not good for him. No matter how we try to get him to drink plain cold water, he throws a fit and he is so stubborn, he will go without it what seems like forever until he get his nightly cup of milk. He only gets one of those per day and its before bedtime. Dr's orders. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

I thought that she was ready a while back, when she was about 18 months old, she wanted to use the potty like mommy, and she was for a while, but for the past 6 months she has not wanted to potty at all. She goes to day care, but doesnt seem interested that the other kids go potty. I have even tried giving rewards, and saying, "yay selly" when she does go, but she has just stop wanting to go at all. Should I keep trying, or should I wait until she is interested again?

My 19 month old has had the runs for three days now about 3 - 4 times per day. I'm not sure what is causing it as I haven't been giving her anything spicy or greasy to eat. Her bottom is very sore and she kicks and screams even before she goes onto her changing table as she doesn't want me to wipe her. I've been giving her Pedialte which doesn't seem to be helping. She doesn't seem or act sick....no fever and no fussiness. Any suggestions??
