I just got a booster seat for my son. He meets all the standers for it. With time he can wiggle out of it. What am I doing wrong.( Its a Evenflo Big Kid Booster Seat)

Does the booster have to hook up to the car or does it just sit in the car and you use the seat belt to buckle them in it. All my other car seat you had to stable in to place.

Should I put him back in his five point car seat?

no matter where you are if he wiggled his way out of a car seat then pull over refuse to move the car until he is back in his seat. I did this with my oldest child. from the day I pulled over on he never tried to get out of his seat again.
I also told him that he needs to be in a carseat. The policemen want all children to be in carseats.

If your son is wiggling out of the booster, he is not ready for it. Put it away and put him back into the 5-point harness. He would be safer in any car seat then he would be wiggling out of it and just in the car.
My booster is also a 5-point harness. I can use it as a booster or the 5-point harness. I use it as the 5-point harness and I will continue to do so until my child can no longer fit in the 5-point harness. It is better to have too much support then not enough.

Yes, please put him back in the 5-point until he outgrows it. It's safer especially since he's getting out of the booster! Every step "up" in carseats is actually a step down in safety.

As far as installing it (when you go back to using it) if you use the seatbelt you should not attach the booster to the car any other way (like the LATCH anchors). You should only use those if he is using the carseat's harness. Never use both the seatbelt and the LATCH anchors at the same time whether for a regular carseat or a booster.

It is very important to talk to your son and stress what will happen if he does not stay in it and how you will feel if he gets hurt and you don't want that to happen. Also setting an example is key, if he doesn't see you put your seatbelt on he will be prone to take his off too. It took me a while to get my daughter to do the same and every time we got in the van, I would tell her its possible we could get into an accident and Mommy doesn't want that to happen but other drivers might cause it and you would get hurt. Etc. Etc. Etc. Now everytime we get in there, she does it by herself and gives me a thumbs up.

Good Luck!

If you are using one w/ or w/out a back you buckle the child and car seat in. If it has the five point harness you buckle the car seat in, then just buckle the harnesses.

With a booster it is not attached to the car. The seat belt holds the child and the seat in place. Your child needs a good spanking every single time he does it. End of problem.

My first thought is you could exchange it for a seat that has a 5 point harness, some are available that go up to a really heigh weight.

Otherwise read this, maybe it will help:

I would tell him that until he can sit still for his safety, he has to continue to use the baby seat. I bet he wont like that much. It doesnt sound to me as if he is quite ready, even though he meets the physical requirements.
