children vary - ask and see if he/she is ready. One sounds young

Our son would wake up almost every hour and cry. He never seems comfortable in his crib. His arm would get stuck or he would move alot and then get turned around and stuck so he would wake. He never wanted to sleep in his crib however, he would sleep in our bed or on the futon or the sofa with no issues. Finally, when he turn 1 year old and 4 months we had had enough of not getting enough sleep so we put him in a bed of his own, added rails to the sides (the kind that you can pull out and fold up) and no frame. We put the box spring on the floor and the mattress on the box spring. He started sleeping in 4 hour blocks and that was amazing. So to answer your question, it all depends on the child and the parents. If you feel that it's time to move your child to a regular bed, try it but don't sell the crib just yet incase it's not time for your child. I wish you much success in the transition.

Is he a climber? If he climbs alot it will be a short time until he decided to climb out of the crib. Safer to put him in a bed. The "downside" to a child bed is he can get out of it when he feels like it, which may be often!

My daughter was 2 1/2 when we switched her into a bed. We switched her when she started trying to climb out of the crib. Boys usually climb earlier.

When you switch him, consider going slowly. Put the bed in his room and let him "rest" on it, but continue to use the crib. Talk to him about the new bed. Let him take a nap on it one day and see how he does. Keep the crib up, until he is used to the idea of sleeping on the bed. Some children find the transition from crib to bed stressful. Some don't care and some are happy with it. Best to go slow to avoid a sleep issue.

If you mean crib as in swinging crib on a frame, they are designed for babies 0-3 months. Cots are for babies up to about 12-18 months, and beds from about 18 months onwards.

as quickly as she will climb out of the crib it is unquestionably time for a newborn mattress. A crib would be risky for an adventurous infant. that's a lots longer fall from the crib rail to the floor than the mattress to the floor. i'm uncertain if she will try this yet, yet I certainly have 3 nieces who all ought to try this by skill of 365 days, and that i plan on it being a similar with my 5 month previous daughter.

my daughter was 15 months old when she started sleeping in a toddler bed, but it really depends on the child and if they are ready, every child is different.
