Not at all. I'm sure most of us here didn't have a TV in the car growing up... there used to be Conversation between family members... infants or no. If Mom and Dad talk, the kid can listen and get a better grasp on speaking and vocabulary.

No child ever needs to be glued to the TV. one year olds don't really get bored in the car. They either look out the window, talk to other people in the car or sleep. Get the TV out of the car. You'll be happy you did in the long run.

We don't use one in the car at all. I had to cart my poor little guy all over the country from the very beginning (long story). He got used to riding in the car, and he does quite well. At first I'd just give him a bottle. As he got older, I'd let him take a car or a book to look at. Now he can go for hours at a time. Sometimes I'll ask him to find a red truck, and since he loves trains, he's always pointing out train tracks. It helps to be able to see out the window.

wow, at one my son wouldn't even watch tv at all lol even if a little children's program was on he'd look at the tv for all of five seconds and be off!, he has a tigger toy holder that hangs over the passenger seat (his carseat is behind it) and he grabs it with his legs and pulls it to him (good for getting some movement in the car too!), i fill it with toys like rattles, blocks, books etc, on long trips he has his lunchbag on the seat next to his carseat with easy snacks like crackers and baked fruit sticks etc and also a drink bottle and he loves getting things out of it, it can be messy but is much more of a learning process than being glued to the tv! he's been doing this since he was 12months and now that he's 18months we've upgraded the toys to a little bit older, and changed the food a bit but he still loves it and it's less messy now too.

If the baby will not stay occupied with toys while on the trip to avoid boredom and acting out I would use the t.v. but of course make sure that you have educational videos in it like Blues Clues, Sesame Street, etc.

I would think maybe only watch 1 or 2 shows a day. My son is almost a year and will only watch Mickey Mouse clubhouse and Blues Clues, but only half of them. Take your baby to the park to swing and slide, play with toys, and read books.

No, if they did then how did all of those of us that were born before the day of car tv make it. Try giving baby some car toys attached to the car seat.

No of course not my daughter is 1 and a half and never watches tv, especially not in a car. Just sing songs or give her pens or toys or something to eat and she will be just as happy.

Not at all. My son is 2 and can still just sit in the car and find entertainment on his own.. TV takes away creativity.

My son didn't watch TV until recently, when I was really sick and there was no one there to help me take care of him (I'm a recently divorced mom). He was older than 2 when he started watching TV.
