At nite my daughter gives me and my husband so many problems. She has an excuse for everything. She wants a bottle, shes hungry, she wants to read a book, she wants the light on, she needs a diaper change, and on and on and on. It takes us almost everynite at least 2-2.5 hours to put her to bed. I dont like to spank her but. And I hate to hear her cry, especially if she says shes hungry.. I give in every time-because id never want her to go to bed hungry. She always has a snack before bed, I just still feel bad. My daughter is very smart, and my finance says that shes got me rapped around her finger. How far do I go? How long should this process be? She just moved from her crib to a toddler bed about 1mo ago. Am I too nice? Is that possible? HELP ME?????!!!!!!!!

If we put her to sleep in her own room, she wakes up screaming and runs in our room and gets in bed with us. We finally put a cot in our room so she would feel safe until she got over this, but she still wakes up hysterical and has to be soothed for a minute to go back to sleep. Any help would be great.

My son just turned one and I have a hard time thinking of things to do with him. I tried to read stories with him but he is more interested in just ripping the books.. so that is out. He plays with toys, but not if I try to play with them with him. (If that makes any sense) I really can't think of anything else that we can do during the day to keep him and myself busy. Any suggestions?

My 2YO hit her top teeth on steps while playing and one of the front teeth slowly bled around the gums for a whole day. I think it may be loose. The gums in that area look swollen and a bit darker than the surrounding gums. I'd hate for her to loose a tooth at 2! What should I expect? Will it heal?

When ask my daughter to do something, she says "no", unless there is something in it for her. She listens very well to her father, and all he has to do is give her the look. With me, even when I spank her, it does no good! Time out works somewhat, but only for a while. My parents are always getting in the middle so I ask them not to interfere when I am disciplining her. I am trying my best. What do I do?

She wakes up almost thrice at night for breast milk. I ensure that she gets enough food at night but she still wakes up no matter what or how much she eats. This is leaving me with little sleep. How do I get my baby to sleep thru the night?

My husband and I (both white) are trying very hard to raise our children to judge people by their character rather than by the way they look. We have recently moved to a Southern state and are living in a more ethnically diverse area than where we previously lived. My 3 year old daughter has started, in some circumstances, to refer to African-Americans as "chocolate," -- as in "the chocolate man came to our school and told us stories."

I can tell by her reaction to meeting children and adults of different races that she means nothing negative by her comments, but I am concerned that someone will find them offensive. I struggle with whether I should correct her and what I should say to her.

I would appreciate any thoughts and comments on this one. Thanks!

Help me please! I have two children, ages 2 and 5 that love to watch PBS Sprouts, especially the Good Night Show. My problem is this show has a new host that sucks! The kids hate him! Plus they rearranged their programs too! Please send an email to info@sproutletsgrow.com and tell them to get rid of Leo, bring back the old line up. A bonus would be to ask them to bring back Melanie.

My daughter has been tried on Whole Milk, Soy Milk, and now Isomil 2 none of the above seems to help the problem. Juice seems to make her worse. She eats fine thought, the only real problem is she seems to have constant diaper rash. The doc wants to take her off all milk for 2 weeks which seems odd to me. Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

My wife and I are expecting a baby boy in 2 weeks and currenty have 4yr old and 2 yr old daughters. They will not go to bed without mom in their with them and when they wake up they cry and come to our room. We have tried letting them just cry it out but they always end up puking. I work alot of odd hours and on call half of the month but when I try to get them to go to sleep with me they don't want me in the bed. We are at our wits end and are wondering what will happen when the new baby gets here. Also we have started to blame on another for this dilema. Any advice would truely be appreciated.

MY 2 year old goes to bed at about 8:30 pm and she will not sleep past 2:30 am, when she gets up at that time, she thinks its time to play, this has been happening for a week now, is there anything that could be causing this? I have not changed anything about her routine when we get home, she eats dinner at the sametime every night, and gets her bath at the same time every night, but she still refuses to sleep past 2:30 am.

My son is attached to my mom like you wouldnt beleive! When i had him i lived with my mom and it was her first grandchild and she spoiled him. I moved out when he was 3 months old and he stayed the night with her every saturday night, then once he was like 2 years old he started being with her everyday from like 3 p.m. until she went to work at 8:00 p.m. which was fine with me because he had a 8 month old sister it was a nice break every day ( my mom lives across the street from me)! When he was 4 I went to Cinncinatti to visit a friend and my mom didnt want me to take him with me so i took my daughter and let my son stay with my mom I was gone for 3 weeks, When i came back my son didnt want to come home, So for almost a year he has been at my moms, she dosent have custidy of him or anything...he just would rather be there then with me...I see him everyday and he spends the night with me a couple times a week but he cries for my mom! He is 5 and i want my son back, what can i do!

My son has a habit of banging his head on a pillow or the mattress in order to send himself to sleep! It started when he was around 9 months, I thought it would be a temporary situation but he's 2 years and 3 months now and he continues to do that. Is that normal? Is there a way to stop him or will he just eventually grow out of it?
