When 2 of my sons turned 1, we put them in regular size beds. They could crawl up onto it and get down by themselves, so we figured they would be ok. You can also get the side guards that make it so they cant fall out of bed. They seemed to sleep sounder and have less problems because of space. While in cribs they would hit their heads or bump into the bars while rolling around in their sleep. After being put in their big beds, they started sleeping through the night.

I put my daughter into a twin bed @ age 2 yrs. Since the toddler bed was the same size as the crib. She was too long for the crib. She has a bed rail also. Been a whole year I still have the bedrail on. She still moves around at night. She just turned 3 this month. I think its just easier to go to the twin bed. But if he gets up in the middle of the night, I'd leave him in the crib, that way you know where he is and not get into trouble, for example, some children get out of the house in the middle of the night.

When a child is ready to leave a crib, a twin bed is fine so long as it is low enough (he can fall out and get hurt), and has a bed rail to keep him from falling out. Be prepared for any child just out of the crib to crawl out of bed and come to you often during the first nights. This child is no longer confined. He could walk out the front door even. I'd keep a child in the crib until at least 2 1/2 if you can.

toddler beds sit closer to the ground and some cases use the crib matress. We used a single bed with our daughter. She like that more than the toddler bed. Buy a bed rail. The netting one by Safety First is good.

A twin bed is fine, you might want to put it on the floor for the first couple of years though, there are also rails you can purchase, I got mine at Toys R Us and they worked well.

I put my children in twin beds. In addition to the rails, I also put their crib mattresses under the beds for additional padding in case they got past the rails. I'd slide the crib mattress out at night and back under the bed in the morning.

My six year old is still in a toddler bed and she is average size for her age.

So unless your kid is super overweight, then he will fit.

So get over it, unless you want him to fall out of that big bed and hurt himself!

For the person that said their 2 year old was too tall for a crib, that must have been one tall 2 year old, must be in the Genius World Book of Records!!!

That is fine. Just be sure to buy the bed rails. you can find various ones at Babies R Us. If you're worried about him or her higher off the ground, i would start with the mattress on the floor.

my niece has been sleeping in a full size bed since she was 15 months. just put lots of pillows around to keep them from rolling out or buy a bed rail. my niece thought it was fun to have so many pillows around her and it made the transition much easier.

Keep it low to the ground and use a bed rail - our son loved it.
