My daughter's one year check up is in a couple of hours. I know all the vaccines and tests that they will be giving, etc. Is my daughter going to be miserable for the rest of the day? I would love to know what other parents experienced.

I always take children's Tylenol with me to the Doctors office. That way when they get their shots I can go ahead and give them the Tylenol and by the time the shots start to make them cranky, the Tylenol has time to start working. My pediatrician is the one who advised me to do this. Then I give them the Tylenol every 4 hours for 24 hours and everything is fine.

I've found that the vaccines make your child a little tired and arm or leg a little sore afterwards. However, it's the administering of the actual shots that I think all parents fret about most. The faster your nurse is with giving the shots --real skill-- the better for you all. I recall the shots the first year were the hardest to watch. It gets better after that.

I always gave my daughter Tylenol about 20 minutes before her checkup when I knew she was going to get a shot. She was never miserable for the rest of the day--she'd take a nap on the way home and was totally herself after that.

She shouldn't be miserable unless she is normally so. Going for a check up each year is quite normal. Are you miserable after your check up. Probably not!

Recalling how my siblings were around that time, after a half hour your daughter should be just fine and dandy.

We got ours last week. My son was a little tired, but still in good spirits. I would dose her with Tylenol as a precaution. She will be fine.
