Warm milk is a good idea. It will calm her before bed.
Also cut out sugar from her diet. To much will make her restless and give her nightmares.
Do not get her stimulated within an hour of bedtime. This should be relax and read time or something or put in a 1/2 hour cartoon to let her wind down from the day.
I would get her out of your bedroom. She is old enough to sleep in her own room. Get her a night light and a continuous playing CD with soothing music playing very softly. If when wakes up at night she will know where she is.
My niece did that for a while, she usually fell right back asleep. You don't want her to feel abandoned if she is afraid, but at the same time you don't want her dependent on you every night.
Did she mention if she is having nightmares, or is she just waking up and can't fall back asleep so she screams for you?

It sounds like she is having night terrors.
Try to reassure her, in her own bed. You can sit in there for a few minutes while she settles back down. Just keep telling her that it's all right and she is safe.
Is she afraid? Try this- get a little spray bottle & fill it with water. Tell her it's "Monster (or whatever she's afraid of) Spray." Help her spray it around the room and let her keep it by her bed.
It's just a phase & she will grow out of it. With your constant assurance that her bedroom is a safe place, she will have more confidence and you will all get some peace!

Watch the Super Nanny on TV or get her book. She has GREAT advice on how to keep kids in their bed at night and get them to sleep through the night. It will take some work on your part in the beginning, but if you keep putting her back in her bed at night, then she will finally stop coming in to sleep with you. If you let her sleep with you once or use a cot (I know it's easy 'cuz you're tired) then she will continue to do it. If you give kid's an inch, they will take a mile. They can't help it. It's better to show her how to be independent now. If you're consistent, it will take hard work but will pay off in the end.

Watch what she's eating before she goes to bed. I have really weird dreams if I eat peanuts after noon on any given day. Peanuts are known as dream food. Is she eating anything that contains peanuts? If not- it could be something else that she's been eating. Monitor what she eats compared to when she has these episodes. There could be a link.
I know it's not much but I hope it helps. Have a great day!!!

what is she watching on tv? my son went through a phase where he would get up in the middle of the night and not go back to sleep. so we stopped watching or reading anything even a little bit scary, and you'd be surprised how much stuff there is out there that you have to avoid for your sensitive child. she could also be going through separation anxieties, if there are any new major changes in your life lately like a move, death, birth, etc. good luck.

Something has changed in her daily routine that has her scared. Or something happened to her. Constantly remind her that she is safe with you, I wouldn't advise keeping her in your room, maybe stay with her in her room until she falls asleep and if she wakes up, stay with her again. If she gets used to being in your room or your bed it will be hard to break her of it when the night problems end. Review any changes in her schedule/daily activities and see if that is it. If not and it continues you may want to see her doctor.
