Every day I walk my son 2.5km to kinder and 2.5km back to home
some people say I am being cruel makeing him walk so far.
We have no car so he has to learn how to walk far distances
I could try and organise a ride but I don't think its all that far really
so is this too far or are people just lazy

I want to wean my baby off the breast now but my 13 mth old is making it very difficult. I have reduced the number of feeds and give it only when she has to sleep. However her eating is not at all satisfactory. I give her cereals, egg, rice, fruits, veggies, soups, lentils etc. You name it. The problem is that she takes a few sips or few bites and walks off. Then no matter what I do I cannot make her eat it. I've been trying to get her to drink whole milk now as she has always rejected formula. That too she refuses. I tried flavouring milk too. I try giving her what she likes on a particular day but then too she will not have it more than very little. And next day she won't have. I'm told that breastfed babies are very fussy eaters. Now I am trying to wean her off and I find that it is affecting her weight. Please suggest what to do? Also she doesn't sleep without breastfeeding. And wakes up in between at night and cries. Again I have to breastfeed till she falls back to sleep. HELP!

This was when they were little. Did anyone do anything as bad as this to their parents, when you were a kid?

On saturday my 25 month old daughter fractured her arm, she was having difficulty adjusting to the cast. So we backed off potty training and the sleeping schedule. Today she pulled the cast off so I took her back to the hospital and they put a cast from the wrist all the way past the elbow. When she woke up from a nap she cried for an hour she's so uncomfortable. Should I just let her be and not force the naps and bedtime. Same with the potty. She is usually a happy girl she is just so sad right now. She's also not eating much. Don't know what to do. She just want to watch dora and blues and cuddle with mom or dad.

While i am here can anyone else throw in some good potty training tips My little girl won't tell me whne she has to go... she will only tell me when she has gone. Someone PLEASE help. My Daughter is 21 months old and seems to want to take care of herself. She brushes her own teeth , washes her hands, Cleans her place after dinner, cleans her room with me, with a bit of assistance can dress herself, and also helps me feed her little brother. I have a small child and have a husband in the Navy so I take care of them alone alot. I am looking for a simple pain free way to potty train her and still being able to care for her brother. Most of the potty training books I have read ask for 1 on 1 attention, unfortunatly its just me. The only 1 on 1 time she gets is our short time we spend coloring or playing outside. If anyone has a way I am all ears.

My son, who will be 3 years old next month, swallowed a quarter 3 1/2 weeks ago. We have had a couple of xrays done and the quarter has been in the belly for both. It just won't seem to pass. They have scheduled an endoscopy this Thursday to remove it. Has anyone encountered a child that couldn't pass a coin naturally - after it already made it to the belly?

2 minutes later he will pee in his pants. He is now in the habit of holding it in until he absolutely has to go, not a good senario. Any hints on how to calm his fears? Thanks.

I'm a single Dad with 2 daughters (age 2 and 5 yrs old). I make decent money but It's getting very difficult to pay for daycare for my youngest and after school care for my oldest. I receive no assistance from their mother and I can't take her to court because she has nothing anyway. Does anybody know of any grants or programs I might beable to apply for to help pay for the childcare? Childcare + Rent + food + car payment + clothing, I don't know if I can make it. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks.

I recently attended a TWO year olds birthday party that was themed around the bratz dolls. This child recieved at least 2 dozen pieces of bratz merchandise and to be honest I thought they were bit sexual for a such a young child. My daughters birthday rolled around and the same couple who threw the bratz party bought my 2 year old a bratz sheet set for her "big girl bed" . The images on the sheets were girls with full blown floozy make up on and teeny tiny hot pants pjs....I disturbs me and I am hoping that these dolls are generaly aimed at older childern (say like 13?) I am just curious as to the trends others have seen and if in fact it is normal for such young children to play with toys like this....thanks!

Just recently my son has gotten extremely shy. When there are people around that he doesn't know, he will hide behind things and stay there until they leave. He has always been a little on the shy side but now it has gotten worse. Is this a developmental thing or should I have him checked by a doctor?

I know I just asked this question but I forgot some details. She is in pull-ups, she sits on the potty several time a day, I reward her with stickers (she loves stickers). She is also not my daughter, I babysit her. I know she is ready but if there is no consistancy between me and her parents, are my efforts futile? If not can you explain what I can do?

Instead of her asking for things or something is wrong she cries, she even wakes up in the middle of the night crying. But this need to cry instead of using words is driving me crazy. How do I get her to stop and think befor she cries and speak to me about the situation. HELP?

ok I'm in a bit of a strange situation. It is not my daughter. She a girl I babysit. Her parents are not pushing the issue at all with her. She more than ready. I'm just needing some tips as a caregiver for a little girl. I have 2 boys. As well, no matter what I have tried with the child... the parents do not seem to be consistant or in any kind of rush. I know she can do it. She's way too big to wear diapers and I'm tired of changing them. I have one of my own in diapers. He's 9 months old. So I guess I have two questions. Should she be trained right now? I think so. And how can I help her do it?
