I don't know of anything. Austism has many disorders within the spectrum also. I have a 7 year old boy with Asperger syndrome which is in the Autism spectrum. I would be curious to know if there are any other characteristics other than poor eye contact that this child may be experiencing. You may not think that your child has any disorder but my child talked fine and early at that. He has an advanced vocabulary but he plays around children rather than with them. Another thing to watch out for is if this child hand flaps. Has Autism been ruled out? If you have any questions on anything you can email me at freakygurl559@yahoo.com.

My son has very poor eye contact due to cataract removal surgery in both eyes before 1 1/2 month of age. He is almost 3 now, wears contact lens, and we are patching to help make the left eye stronger.

Your toddler's doing great. slightly postpone with speech and a loss of eye touch at the instant are not a actual concern. Many young toddlers nonetheless have difficulty with eye-touch. forcing eye-touch could be worse than letting the toddler. would not sound like autism, looks like a postpone. each so often we take slightly longer, 3-4 months over 3 years isn't that undesirable.

possiblity of them not being able to see you clearly. I would have them checked out by an eye dr. My 4 yr old just had eye muscle surgery. and now, we know she is looking at us. She has Strabismus, a condition that causes the eyes to cross. One eye would focus on us and the other would be looking somewhere else. She also has Amblyopia in her "bad" eye. It is a severe case of farsightedness in that eye. Without the surgery she could have lost vision in her left eye all together. DEFINATLY take them and get them checked.

LOTS of THINGS!!!!!

Vision, personality, attention span.....habit.

Speak to your doctor and express your concerns....

IF and that is a HUGE IF, your child is autistic, there are schools and avenues. My friends child is severely autistic....it was a battle and a long time of firm discipline and tough love (and acceptance of who she is)....we are so proud of our MAINSTREAM 6th grader!

My other friends are in denial, send him to school for daycare and are very inconsistent....there has been little to no improvement. His diagnoses was better than the girls.

BUT........I really don't think you should be worried just yet!
