On saturday my 25 month old daughter fractured her arm, she was having difficulty adjusting to the cast. So we backed off potty training and the sleeping schedule. Today she pulled the cast off so I took her back to the hospital and they put a cast from the wrist all the way past the elbow. When she woke up from a nap she cried for an hour she's so uncomfortable. Should I just let her be and not force the naps and bedtime. Same with the potty. She is usually a happy girl she is just so sad right now. She's also not eating much. Don't know what to do. She just want to watch dora and blues and cuddle with mom or dad.

She will eat when shes hungry as most kids will. I'm sure she is just confused as at 25 months old they dont understand too much of what is going on. Especially if its something new. This only happened on Saturday so i'm sure in a few days she'll adjust. For now, just put on the Dora and Blues Clues and snuggle. Offer snacks throughout the day that are nutricous and if she says she has to go pottty, take her.

Try and relax some, mom. You're in for alot more bumps and bruises. I know this cant be easy, but you will both make it thru this! :)

So sorry your little one is so uncomfortable, but she'll get used to it. It's just harder when they'e so young; she may think it's a punishment. draw a picture of her in her cast, or draw a picture ON her cast. Have gramma (if possible) come over and sign it. There are books about having casts, too. Even giving it a name might help her deal with it. Call it something funny, like Elmo, Boots (hey, it kinda looks like a boot, right?), or Joe (like Blue's Clues-- my son is addicted to it!!!). When it stops aching so much, she will start to come around a bit more.
If you relax the routine too much, it will be really hard to get back into it again. And veering off course will make her even more uncertain about the whole situation. Try to be as "normal" as possible, so she will feel more normal herself. Don't "force" things, but just keep trying.
My little sister broke her wrist at 3, and was just like that. (I was 13 at the time.)

Try giving some Tylenol and just cuddle with her and make her feel comfortable. You can back of things for a little bit like with bed maybe and extra hour with mommy, potty training just keep asking if she say's no then let her be. Also try getting family to sign her cast and friends.

Let her just cuddle for a while. It's only been a few days. I would keep a bedtime but everything else on hold for a few days. She will get used to it and be running around soon.

I agree with everyone else. Give her extra cuddles and lots of TLC. She needs it, and it's a stressfull time for her, and something she's never experienced before.

Is her cast a plain white one? If so, you can have her draw/color on it, or put stickers.... If not, take her somewhere special....

Poor lil girl.
Big hugs!
