Try telling him he can make magic with his pee. Put blue coloring in the potty and his pee will turn it green. Or maybe you should just start him out standing up. Put cheerios in the bowl and have him aim for them!

I like the blue food dye idea. Or, get him a little potty and have him use that. I also got the book - everyone goes potty or something - it has a button you push that sounds like the potty which calms some fears. He may think that he can get sucked down the potty so he doesn't want to sit there. Don't flush it while he is still on it. Also, don't get him thinking abut the tub or you will have 2 problems on your hands! Trust me!!

Buy some fruit loops and put a few in his potty and tell him to pee pee on the rings. Little boys like to try and do something they think they shouldn't. It has worked many times, and they flush with no problem.
Encourage him, and cheer him on. Try cheering, pee on the green one. You will get him to go and teach him colors at the same time. Many find the idea of it fun. Just keep encouraging him and remember to praise him when he finally does use his potty.

Make a game of it. Put some liquid soap in the potty and have him stand up and pee in it to make bubbles. Or pour corn flakes in and have him "sink" the flakes. If he stands up it will be fun for him. Is there not a man around who can show him how? My sons peed with their dads and learned quickly, the first was 13 months old and loved it. The second was 2 and loved it too!!! Also, reward each "pee event" with an M & M (just one), or something similar!!!!

well let him stand at the potty, if he can't reach get him a stool. He might not like holding it down! Place some cheerios in the potty so that they float around. Yes sounds silly but it might just work.. Let him target practice with the cheerios. With My son we made believe that they were fires and he had to put them out!! Reward him with a toy soldier. The kind you get a hundred in a pack. Give him ONE each time he goes. Good Luck!!!

make him sit on the potty for a long time.... try flushing the toilet and explaining to him that it's only water in their and it's not going to hurt him, also try to explain about fears and how to overcome them as a "big boy". Try finding a" time to go" potty book, so he understands his fear more, show him that it's only water in the tank and that when does his duty the toilet is only cleaning it's self. HE'll overcome it it's only a matter of time, it may be fustrating but hang in there

sit in with him...on the floor beside the potty. HOld his hand if it makes him feel better :o)
Listen for the trickle to start & cheer him on until he empties out.
Do you offer a reward for him going on the potty? We do stamps on thier hands (can't be removed like a sticker).
Sometimes, putting cherios in the potty & telling boys to "sknk" or "shoot" them is a good way to make it fun!

Its all normal i had the same problem with my son in the beginning!!! Just keep encouraging him and remember to praise him when he finally does go! The reward system can work well too, tell him you will give him a sticker or a treat every time he goes and that may be just the encouragement he needs!!!
