My 16 month old son is going through some issues, he has chronic ear infections and is scheduled to have tubes put in plus he is cutting teeth and has a pretty good cold right now so I know he is ging through alot but when my husband comes home he will just start bawling and hang onto me for dear life, if I leave the room he bawls, if his dad tries to pick him up to give me a break he loses his mind and cries and kicks and tries to throw himself out of his arms, I know there is such thing as seperation anxiety but this is awful. And please no responses that maybe he's afraid of him because something he did to him because its not like that, my husband has never so much as smacked his hand. But when I leave the house I guess he's fine, he will play and play and laugh and run around crazy with his dad but if I am there he has a total fit if his dad even walks toward him. Is this a phase?

My daughter is in pre-k this year. She is 4. Keep in mind on a daily basis, she and I struggle everyday for her to listen to me. She is very stubborn, hard headed, and does not listen. Since her class started 2 weeks ago, I have gotten a note home almost every day about this in the class and now I have a phone call. She will NOT listen to the teacher. Have I done something wrong with her? Will she ever grow out of it? Should I just pull her out of school and wait until next year, she really needs the pre-k work though...she won't listen to me to learn the work.

My son and niece both just turned two. My son talks non-stop all day. He is counting to five, names everything he sees and talks in short sentences. My niece however only says mama and dada. Because she is not talking we do not know if she understands the concepts my son and other two year olds are learning. She was working with a speech therapist but all they did was try and teach her sign language. She ignored the therapist for the most part. All she learned was to say "more" by signing where as before she just grunted for it. Any ideas on not only getting her to talk but also getting her to understand naming, numbers and such without being able to talk? She also likes to play alone rather than with other kids.

He got sick with the flu for about a week, then he wanted to be cuddled to go to sleep (which never worked before) and for 3 weeks straight he'd wake up at 3am screaming and stayed up for 2-3 hours after, and he also wouldn't sleep in his crib anymore, which all happened within a day or so, any suggestions on how to get him back to routine?

We live in a suburban neighborhood (subdivision) with TONS of kids and families. My one neighbor lets all her kids run around outside when mom and dad are inside. I have a 2 and 4 year old, and her 3 and 5 year old often ask my 2 and 4 year old to play outside. Which in my house, means I go out. Just curious at what age people thiink is appropriate to start letting kids play outside alone. I don't mind going out, by my neighbor has asked my why I feel I have to be out there. What age did you first let your kids play in the yard, cul de sac, or at the neighbors without you.

My little girl is 1 in a half years old and every night when we put her to bed she will climb out and crawl into to bed with me and my husband so one night we were having sex and she walked in and scared the crap out of us. After that we decided to close her room door and now that we have done that she cries, throws her toys against the door, screams and anything else you can think of. What should we do? any advice would be great.

When i had gone my sis in law saw it and asked her where she got it from, she said "mummy gave it to me for sweets" and they took it up the shop and spent it! My sis in law thought i gave it to her

I have an 18 month old daughter and I sometimes spank her when she does something that she shouldnt do. I don't do it often but when I do it I see that it really works. I just want to know your opinions so if you're just going to tell me that I'm a horrible mother and shouldn't have kids then just click on the back button on your computer and go to another question!

What bedtime do you find reasonable for a 2 year old? My mom told me we used to go at 7pm at that age, but that we got up earlier in the morning. Also, she was a stay at home mom, so I think that would have some influence on it.
