what do you do if they set on the toilet but dont go? then they get down and pee in the floor. she will set on the potty for ever but as soon as she gets up she pees in the floor. Does that mean she is not ready. or do i just deal with pee in the floor till she gets used to no diaper?

the problem here is potty training...you should not force potty training on a child...you should be there to help them when it is their decision...how old is your daughter? if she's 5 or 6 consider Feel 'n Learn diapers...if she's younger leave her in diapers and leave her alone...a child should not be pushed to get out of diapers until 5 or 6 years of age...if they're younger it should be their choice...

My daughter's 2 and a half...and still wearing diapers. She'll sit on the potty, but refuses to go...

anyway, i was reading in one of those parenting magazines that I get, that it's completely normally for a toddler to not be potty trained up until about 3 and a half. While it's great if you're child learns to use the potty at 2...if they aren't ready..it's not like you can force them. Plus, when they're 2 and under, they're already learning so many new things that it can be very difficult for them to learn how to use the potty...it can backfire, and there can be quite a few "accidents"...they actually recommended in the article that the child be a little bit older, that way they understand better. If you're daughter understands when you're talking to her, or showing her something, she's definetly ready to potty train...

This is kind of...well, time consuming, but take her into the bathroom every hour...and just have her sit on her potty for 10 to 15 minutes...make some kind of reward for when she does use the potty...and explain to her that if she goes potty she gets...just as an example, a sticker on her "potty calendar"....just an idea...

I'm still struggling with potty training and my daughter, but i'm not freaking out yet...she's still got time...

Four or five is a good age to potty train. When you take the child out of diapers start using pull-ups or training pants. They have several new nicities such as the ones that feel cool when they get a little wet. If your child is peeing on the floor when he gets off of the toilet then you should begin to talk to the child about why they're doing that just after getting off of the toilet where it is supposed to go. If the child is too young to understand and communicate this with you then how do you expect to potty train? One good reason not to potty train too young. You want them to go in the potty, yes, but you also want them to understand why so that you can minimize accidents when away from the toilet such as in the bed or at the store. Good luck!

My son is three but still wears diapers.I know he should be getting started on the toilet right away.In my opinion if they are still in diapers after 3 and a half years they are too old.As for your situation, don't even worry.Kids do some
strange things when learning the whole toilet thing. She is ready but you must have patients.
And yeah you can just clean the pee up.It's not a big deal. She'll get it right soon.Have you tried getting one of those little toilet seats that go on top of the big one.It might help.Good luck and wish me the same.

Sounds like this might be a sitting/standing thing. She may not feel "the urgh" sitting on the potty but when she stands up she does. Try instead of having her sit on the potty forever -have her stand there until she feels she has to go and hurry to get her up on the seat. This may help?
Running water also helps them go.
Don't rush potty training though, it comes when they are ready and lots of trial and error along the way.

You usually start potty training them when they are 1 years old, it depends on you're expectations, but you should also try putting them in a night diaper just in case, but just try having perhaps maybe a sticker board when they go to the bathroom in there pants don't give them a sticker but if he\she does go to the the toilet give he\she a sticker.

You should use Pull Ups because they are more like underwear than diapers and you can teach the child to use the Pull Ups themselves until they are finished potty training.

Turn water on. That will get the kid peeing on the can. I took diapers away from my daughter at 2 yr old.

It depends on the child. My toddler (15mths) is trying to potty train himself. He will pull at his diaper and say potty. He will also pee when you put him on the potty.

Most likely she is not ready. Usually when kids start taking off their own diaper they are ready for the potty. This is when you introduce it to them and then congradulate them when they go.
