how old is he. this plays a big roll in this. we may see toddlers as overactive, but it is very normal. i have 3kids ages 8,5,2. all of them i seen as overactive, but they are normal. find things he like to do and keep him busy. if they get Bord, they ten to get in trouble.

i have a boy who is extremely active. i make sure he gets outside ALOT to run around and play, i dont let him play rough EVER, he eats very little junk food, lots of fruit and vegies, he goes to bed at 7 every night without fail, alot of calm calm calm reading and talking and arty type stuff. he is very time consuming, but he really needs alot of attention, or else he just becomes feral! we make sure our house is very calm and as quiet as possible - not that it always is, but we try. and some days toddlers r just awful - thats their thing!

edit - and discipline needs to be firm and consistent. i never smack my kids, but he gets sent to his room to "have a calm down and a think" whenever he is being naughty. i dont leave him long, maybe 3 minutes, then go in and we have a chat and a cuddle. i have found it to be so much more effective than smacking.

Mine was and still is over active! I have found as long as I pay alot of attention to them and give them activites to do they will calm down. My daughter will bounce off the walls if I don't give her something to work on,play with, ect. There are alot of web sites for ideas for activites. www.pbskids.com,or look up toddler activites on your search bar. Use your imagination. Also..cut the sugar out of there diet. Crystal Lite instead of Kolaid, things like that. If there that hyper all ready, they don't need more sugar.Good luck-

Is your child overactive or bored? No good doctor will diagnose your child as being hyper this young.
Consider creating a place to run and a place to be calm, be clear about where he can be hyper and where he must remain calm.
One of my kids is very loud, I tell him, "You may go in your room, shut the door and be loud or you may speak in a normal voice out here. I have to repeat myself, but it very effective when used without pause.

Check out the child's diet....too much sugar and caffeine will certainly make a kid over active and super hyper..If that s not the problem try to find activities to tire the kid out.

Try having them join a baby gymboree to excess that energy or bring them to a park or walk everyday, not in the stroller, actually walking. Fresh air and exercise will tire out any kid.

make sure your toddler gets atleast 11 hours of sleep at night and naps during the day. the rest i think is normal behavior for a toddler.

My daughter is like this when she gets over tired. Make sure your toddler isn't getting too much sugar in his diet, and make sure he gets fresh air every day.
